Summary: The unique experiment of bringing academic and industrial scientists together to tackle infectious diseases has been successful. The Tres Cantos Open Lab Foundation has sustained progress in addressing tuberculosis, protozoal infections, and enteric bacterial diseases through extended stays of academics at a pharmaceutical company. This model, guided by independent experts, complements other public-private partnerships with similar goals.

Summary: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and their risk factors are the leading cause of death worldwide, and tackling this challenge in Afghanistan requires effective interventions. This study identified 35 strategies developed in countries with low non-communicable premature death, with the most common strategies related to unhealthy diets and smoking cessation programs.

Summary: Due to increased globalization and disruptions caused by pandemics, supply chains have become more complex in all industries, including construction. This study aims to manage this complexity by integrating supply chain risks and resilient capabilities in construction to create a resilient supply chain. The research uses systems thinking and system dynamics modeling to analyze and establish the interconnectivity and functionality of construction supply chain risks and resilient capabilities. The findings reveal the vulnerabilities faced by construction organizations, such as health pandemics and budget overruns, and identify the most effective resilient capabilities, including assets visibility and collaborative information exchange.

Summary: This study proposes an Enhanced VGG16 model for detecting grape leaf diseases, including Downey Mildew, Anthracnose, and Powdery Mildew. The data are automatically gathered with the assistance of photos taken with a quadcopter, and the main central system analyzes the images to identify diseases and command the hexacopter to spray pesticide. The proposed method achieves improved results compared to other networks in terms of detection accuracy.

Summary: Neglected tropical diseases are a group of infectious and parasitic diseases prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions, with limited access to proper healthcare. The development of low-cost biosensors for fast diagnosis in these areas is crucial for better treatment and eradication. While progress has been made in the past decade, challenges remain in early detection of neglected tropical diseases using biosensors.

Summary: Proteostasis network dysfunction is a molecular hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases, with molecular chaperones playing crucial roles in maintaining cellular homeostasis. Hsp70 and Hsp90, key chaperones, are implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, and targeting their protein-protein interactions with specific co-chaperones using small molecules provides an opportunity for modulating their functions.

Summary: Nutrition and immunity are closely linked, with much of the immune system located in the GI tract. Transition to Westernized nutrition in Western countries has led to an increase in immune-mediated diseases. Studies on the impact of specific dietary patterns on immune-mediated clinical diseases are still lacking sufficient evidence.
