Summary: Plant parasitic nematodes (PPNs) are difficult to control due to their destructiveness and resistance to existing pesticides. Conventional chemical nematicides are toxic and harmful to the environment. Therefore, the screening of nematicidal microbial resources and the identification of natural products are important for environmentally friendly control. In this study, a strain called DT10 was isolated from moss samples and identified as Streptomyces sp. The compound spectinabilin was isolated from DT10 and showed high nematicidal activity on Caenorhabditis elegans. Spectinabilin exhibited a different mode of action compared to currently used nematicidal drugs. These findings suggest that spectinabilin has potential as a biological nematicide.

Summary: In this study, a Streptomyces sp. OR6 strain producing albocycline was isolated from the rhizosphere of olive trees, and its antifungal activity against Verticillium dahliae was demonstrated. This is the first report of albocycline as an effective agent against V. dahliae, suggesting its potential as a promising tool for the biological control of Verticillium wilt.

Summary: In this study, actinobacteria were isolated from the rhizosphere of bamboo plants in India and their growth conditions were optimized to enhance the production of bioactive compounds. The strain BS-16 exhibited remarkable antibacterial activity against three strains and was identified as Streptomyces sp. The ethyl acetate extract derived from strain BS-16 exhibited dose-dependent antibacterial and antioxidant activities. This study holds promise for scaling up the production of bioactive compounds.

Summary: The study found that phenolic compound contents in pomegranate fruit change during storage, with anthocyanins, phenolic acids, and flavonoids being the main compounds present. The anthocyanin content in the arils and the flavonoid content in the peel were associated with peroxidase activity.

Summary: This study assessed the optimization of phenol compound extraction from Mentha piperita using ultrasonic waves with response surface methodology. The independent variables (time, temperature, and ethanol concentration) significantly influenced the properties and antioxidant activity of the extract. The best extraction conditions were found to be 50 minutes at 65 degrees C with a 59.6% v/v ethanol/water solution.

Summary: A new maniwamycin analogue, named maniwamycin G, was isolated from Streptomyces sp. TOHO-M025. It contains a methoxycarbonyl group instead of an amide as found in maniwamycin F. The carbon source of maniwamycin G is four acetate units and L-serine, while the nitrogen sources are serine and glutamic acid.
