Summary: Size- and shape-controlled CdSe/ZnSe core/shell and CdSe/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell nanocrystals with zinc-blende structure are synthesized. The ligand strain between the inorganic crystal surface and organic ligands plays a key role in ZnSe epitaxy. The lattice strain between the CdSe and ZnSe affects the photoluminescence of CdSe/ZnSe/ZnS core/shell/shell QDs.

Summary: In this study, the interfacial structures of CdSe/ZnS QDs were investigated using TOF-MEIS. The results showed the existence of an alloyed layer at the interface between CdSe and ZnS in typical CdSe/ZnS QDs. The dissolution of CdSe seeds during the synthesis steps was identified as the cause of this interfacial alloying, and the ligand environment of the solvent was found to influence the shape of the interface.

Summary: CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots with different oleylamine (OLA) concentrations were synthesized using a one-pot method. The presence of ZnS diffraction peaks indicated the formation of a ZnS shell on the CdSe/CdS core. Interestingly, QDs with higher OLA concentration exhibited diffraction peaks of ZnS/ZnO, showing better thermal stability and slower decay in photoluminescence intensity. These QDs with tunable emission wavelength are suitable for micro-LED display applications.

Summary: Highly emissive core-multi-shell (CdSe/CdS/ZnS) quantum dots (QDs) with sizes ranging from 2 nm to 5 nm were synthesized using the hot injection method. Polymer capping agents were employed to enhance the QDs' lifetime without the need for a protective atmosphere. The absorption spectra of CdSe/CdS and CdSe/CdS/ZnS displayed a red shift compared to CdSe core, with peaks at 362 nm, 365 nm, 558 nm, and 556 nm. The band gaps measured by voltammetry (Eg 2.09 eV) were in good agreement with the UV-visible spectroscopic data (Eg 2.65 eV). XRD spectra confirmed the quantum confinement effect, showing distinct peaks corresponding to the (111), (220), and (311) planes of cubic structures for CdSe, CdSe/CdS, and CdSe/CdS/ZnS, respectively. The effective mass model was used to calculate the linear and nonlinear optical susceptibilities and absorption coefficients.

Summary: This study introduces a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) polymer into the emitting layer of quantum dot light emitting diodes (QLEDs) to simplify the device structure and promote fluorescence resonance energy transfer. By optimizing the host selection, the emission from the TADF polymer itself can be suppressed, significantly improving the color purity of QLEDs. The fabricated CdZnS/ZnS core/shell red QLEDs, without using any hole transport layer, achieved a maximum external quantum efficiency of 18.1%. The cascaded energy transfer in the ternary emitting layer provides a promising strategy for constructing highly efficient and simplified QLEDs.

Summary: Cu-Based quantum dots are being explored as a potential replacement for toxic Cd- or Pb-based QDs, with studies focusing on the impact of different reaction conditions on the resulting morphologies and optical properties. By carefully controlling the ZnS shell deposition, researchers have optimized the synthesis of CIZS/ZnS/ZnS QDs and produced highly fluorescent core/shell/shell heterostructured QDs with high PLQYs. Additionally, the successful creation of giant ZnS shell QDs opens up possibilities for further development in this area.

Summary: This study explores the limitations of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene-sulfonate) as a hole injection layer (HIL) in QLEDs and investigates NiO/ZnS core-shell nanostructures as an alternative HIL. The ZnS shell effectively suppresses exciton quenching and regulates charge transfer, resulting in highly bright and efficient QLEDs. The findings highlight the potential of NiO/ZnS as an inorganic material for stable all-inorganic QLEDs.
