Summary: This study describes the advertisement calls of eleven frog species from the high elevations in the Cordillera Occidental, which have been inaccessible to scientific research due to security concerns. The findings enhance the knowledge of frog advertisement calls in one of the least-represented regions and families in Colombia, and provide important information for future population studies.

Summary: This study is part of a taxonomic work that aims to describe new and known taxa of Tachinidae in Guanacaste Conservation Area in Costa Rica. The researchers describe 33 new species in the Belvosia genus, which were reared from wild-caught caterpillars of various families. Morphological descriptions, limited life history information, molecular data, and photographs are provided for each species. The authors also provide a redescription of the Belvosia genus and a key for identifying species in the Meso- and North-American fauna.

Summary: A new species of Tillandsia called Tillandsia chingacensis is described in this article. This species stands out due to its densely resin-covered floral parts and unusually long fruits. Despite having distichous flowers and petal appendages, it is considered to belong in Tillandsia rather than Vriesea due to its morphological affinities to species of Tillandsia subg. Allardtia. The discovery of this species is a result of recent explorations in a former war zone near Bogota (Colombia), indicating that more taxonomic discoveries can be expected from these recently opened areas.

Summary: A new species of hangingfly, Bittacus rafaeli sp. nov., was described and illustrated based on two specimens from El Doncello, Caqueta, Colombia. This brings the total number of Mecoptera species recorded in Colombia to nine and the number of Bittacus species in South America to twenty-eight. A distribution map of Bittacus species from Colombia was also provided.

Summary: The first U-Pb hematite dates for the Mantoverde and Carmen de Cobre IOCG deposits in Northern Chile are reported in this study. The results suggest that the mineralization of these deposits is related to magmatically derived fluids at high temperatures. The presence of alkali alteration in hematite indicates an important process during the formation of these deposits. This research provides valuable insights into the timing and geological characteristics of IOCG mineralization in Northern Chile.

Summary: This study evaluates the integration of scientific and local knowledge in the conservation of useful plants in Colombia using the Important Plant Areas (IPA) approach. The results show that working with local communities can enhance the understanding of useful plants for spatial conservation planning. Additionally, participatory approaches should go beyond community-based conservation and data collection to inform global conservation program design.

Summary: Two new Andean species of Hoplopeza Bezzi are described and illustrated in this article: Hoplopeza colombiana sp. nov. and Hoplopeza rafaeli sp. nov. These species represent the first records from the Andean ecosystem of Colombia. Additionally, the article provides a diagnosis of the genus, the first description of female terminalia, and a key and distribution map of the Andean species of Hoplopeza.

Summary: Two new species and two new subspecies of the satyrine butterfly genus Punargentus are described and their affinities are evaluated using molecular data. The newly discovered species are mainly found in the Andes mountains in north-central Peru. Based on their habitat preferences, immediate conservation measures are not needed for these species.

Summary: Frequent biodiversity sampling and monitoring programs often result in significant taxonomic discoveries. In this study, two new species of rain frogs from the cloud forests of the Central Cordillera of Colombia were discovered and described following different field expeditions. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of not relying solely on genetic distance for species delimitation and highlights the need for various habitat and ecosystem conservation strategies to promote amphibian diversity studies in the Andes.
