Bis(cycloamidine-2-yl)alkanes easily form bromide tribromide salts in the reduction-oxidation processes with bromine. Bis(tetrahydroimidazolium-2-yl)ethane and bis(hexahydropyrimidinium-2-yl)-ethane bromide tribromides are such new convenient brominating agents for aromatic amides in chemo- and regioselective electrophilic substitutions and alpha-bromination reactions.

Room-Temperature Bistability in a Ni-Fe Chain: Electron Transfer Controlled by Temperature, Pressure, Light, and Humidity

Mateusz Reczynski, Dawid Pinkowicz, Koji Nakabayashi, Christian Nather, Jan Stanek, Marcin Koziel, Justyna Kalinowska-Tluscik, Barbara Sieklucka, Shin-ichi Ohkoshi, Beata Nowicka

Summary: The molecule chain exhibits a unique multiresponsive behavior to stimuli such as temperature, pressure, light, and humidity, leading to significant changes in magnetic susceptibility and color. This stimuli-responsive material can switch between two valence states and show thermal hysteresis at room temperature, as well as sensitivity to pressure and irradiation.

How can fluorine directly and indirectly affect the hydrogen bonding in molecular systems? - A case study for monofluoroanilines

Wojciech Pietrus, Rafal Kurczab, Rafal Kafel, Ewa Machalska, Justyna Kalinowska-Tluscik, Adam Hogendorf, Marek Zylewski, Malgorzata Baranska, Andrzej J. Bojarski

Summary: The study explores the direct and indirect effect of fluorine on hydrogen bond patterns, revealing that a fluorine substituent decreases the strength and frequency of N-H···N hydrogen bonds while increasing the acidity of CH protons, enhancing weaker interactions. Furthermore, the position of fluorine in the aromatic ring strongly influences the C-F bond length and the stability of the N-H bond.

Summary: In this study, a series of reactions were used to synthesize isoquinolin-2(1H)-yl-acetamides and isoindolin-2-yl-acetamides with high yields. These products have potential applications in receptor chemistry. The scope and limitations of these reactions were also explored.

Summary: Computational methods, especially molecular docking-based calculations, are essential in modern drug discovery. The scoring function is a useful energy-based element in docking software for evaluating ligand-protein binding. However, the current scoring functions often lead to incorrect selection of hit molecules and poor pose prediction.

Titanium(iv) enolates of cyclic ketones - stereoselective addition of cyclododecanone to aromatic aldehydes

Dariusz Ciez, Aleksandra Palasz, Krzysztof Koziel, Antonii Lutsan, Justyna Kalinowska-Tluscik

Summary: Titanium(iv) enolates of cyclododecanone are used as CH-acidic units in aldol additions, leading to the formation of β-hydroxy carbonyl compounds. The reactions are carried out at low temperatures to minimize dehydration and enone formation. Unlike alkali metal enolates, titanium(iv) enolates of cyclododecanone favor syn-stereoselectivity. The stereoselectivity of the aldolization reaction depends on the size and location of substituents in the aromatic ring of benzaldehydes.
