Summary: Nature utilizes haloperoxidases as one of the main sources to introduce bromine atoms in organic compounds, with pioneering studies unraveling the details of vanadium dependent bromoperoxidases. Biomimicking vanadium bromoperoxidase can be used to produce bromonium ion, leading to oxidative bromination or cleavage of various organic molecules. Furthermore, the synthesis of OATB and the synthetic utility of various OATBs have been discussed, with particular emphasis on TBATB in various organic transformations.

Summary: Controlling the morphology of BHJ films in solution processed polymer solar cells (PSCs) is crucial for enhancing their performance. In this study, bis(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)alkanes (BCTA-m) with varying lengths of alkane chains (m = 3, 4, 5, and 6) were used as solvent additives to fabricate inverted PM6:Y6 PSCs. It was observed that the BCTA-4 additive resulted in the highest power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 15.59% compared to other BCTA-m additives and similar to the reference additive 1-chloronaphthlene (CN, PCE = 15.62%). The BCTA-4 device showed improved exciton generation and dissociation, charge transport, and suppressed charge recombination. This work demonstrates the potential of BCTA-4 additive for high-performance inverted PSCs based on Y6-type acceptors.

Summary: Rotational disorder and distinction between ordered and disordered ammonium atoms pose a challenge in laboratory-based X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), especially for compounds with heavy atoms. We performed XRPD analysis on ammonium hexabromido osmate(IV), (NH4)2OsBr6, and found that it exhibits a fully ordered structure of ammonium cations from room temperature up to its decomposition temperature.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption capacity of surface-modified palm fruit husk towards Mo(VI) in wastewater. The results showed that the maximum adsorption of Mo(VI) occurred at pH 2.0. The adsorbent dose required for maximum adsorption was lower for wastewater than for pure aqueous solutions. Additionally, the adsorption of Mo(VI) was minimally affected by temperature.

Summary: Organic hydrogen getters have been used in large-scale applications to eliminate hydrogen and prevent embrittlement and explosion risks. However, the hydrogen absorption rate of existing getters needs improvement. This study successfully developed a 3D N-doped carbon with interconnected hierarchical pores loaded with palladium particles. The Pd/MFC/DEB getter exhibited significantly higher hydrogen uptake performance compared to a typical Pd/AC/DEB getter, making it a promising approach for hydrogen getters.

Summary: A hemipyridine solvate of bis(pyridine)silver(I) perchlorate was prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis and vibrational spectroscopy. The solvate structure is isomorphic with the analogous permanganate complex. The stoichiometric ratio of the monomer [Agpy(2)ClO(4)] and the solvent pyridine is 1:0.5, and the solvate pyridine occupies 18.0% of the volume of the unit cell.

Summary: A selective and straightforward microextraction procedure based on dispersive micro solid-phase extraction was introduced for the simultaneous separation and preconcentration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Under optimized conditions, the procedure showed good linearity, enrichment factors, and low detection limits for the drugs in water samples. High recoveries and appropriate relative standard deviations were achieved when the method was applied to human urine samples for NSAIDs determination.

Summary: A series of N,N'-(alkane-alpha,omega-diyl)bis[N'-(adamantan-1-yl)selenoureas] were synthesized in moderate to high yields by reaction between adamantan-1-yl isoselenocyanate and alkane-alpha,omega-diamines. The synthesized compounds exhibit lower melting points compared to their isosteric analogs containing urea fragments and show promise as inhibitors of human soluble epoxide hydrolase.

Summary: This study improved the synthesis methods for 1,2-bis(3,4-dinitropyrazol-1-yl)diazene, 1,2-bis(3,5-dinitropyrazol-1-yl)diazene, and 1,2-bis(3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)diazene. The standard enthalpies of formation and density of these compounds were determined experimentally. The potential use of synthesized diazenes as fillers for solid composite propellants (SCPs) was investigated and compared with other propellants based on their energy characteristics.

Summary: The study explores the direct and indirect effect of fluorine on hydrogen bond patterns, revealing that a fluorine substituent decreases the strength and frequency of N-H···N hydrogen bonds while increasing the acidity of CH protons, enhancing weaker interactions. Furthermore, the position of fluorine in the aromatic ring strongly influences the C-F bond length and the stability of the N-H bond.

Summary: Computational methods, especially molecular docking-based calculations, are essential in modern drug discovery. The scoring function is a useful energy-based element in docking software for evaluating ligand-protein binding. However, the current scoring functions often lead to incorrect selection of hit molecules and poor pose prediction.

Summary: Titanium(iv) enolates of cyclododecanone are used as CH-acidic units in aldol additions, leading to the formation of β-hydroxy carbonyl compounds. The reactions are carried out at low temperatures to minimize dehydration and enone formation. Unlike alkali metal enolates, titanium(iv) enolates of cyclododecanone favor syn-stereoselectivity. The stereoselectivity of the aldolization reaction depends on the size and location of substituents in the aromatic ring of benzaldehydes.
