Summary: By using network pharmacology, this study predicted that 1,2,3,4,6-Penta-O-galloyl-0-D-glucose (0-PGG) may inhibit the growth of hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells through the p53 signaling pathway. The experimental results confirmed that 0-PGG significantly inhibited the survival of HepG2 cells, promoted apoptosis, and induced apoptosis by activating the p53 signaling pathway.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential effect of piceatannol-3 '-O-beta-D glucopyranoside (PG) on colistin-induced neurotoxicity and the underlying mechanism. The findings showed that PG significantly reduced colistin-induced neuronal apoptosis levels and mitigated colistin-induced oxidative stress-associated injury and mitochondrial damage by activating the NRF2/HO-1 pathway, thus reducing nerve cell apoptosis.

Summary: Phytochemicals like PGG can interrupt the lifecycle of adipocytes, providing anti-obesity effects. In this study, the effects of PGG isomers on cell viability and adipogenesis were examined using various cell types. Additionally, the administration of beta-PGG reduced adiposity and fatty liver development in diet-induced obese mice. These findings suggest that PGG could be useful in clinical management of obesity.

Summary: Dehydrocrenatidine has been shown to induce apoptosis in human oral cancer cells through both extrinsic and intrinsic pathways, involving various proteins. Co-treatment with MAPK inhibitors suggests that dehydrocrenatidine induces apoptosis via activation of ERK and JNK signaling pathways. These findings shed light on the potential of dehydrocrenatidine in molecular regulation.

Summary: This study prepared Penta-O-galloyl-beta-D-glucose (PGG) from tannic acid methanolysis products and investigated its protective effects and mechanism on glucose-induced glycation for the first time. PGG was found to have strong anti-AGEs effects in bovine serum albumin (BSA)-glucose (Glu) and BSA-methylglyoxal (MGO) glycation systems. It inhibits AGEs formation by blocking glycated intermediates, eliminating radicals, and chelating metal ions. Mechanism analysis showed that PGG prevents BSA from glycation by hindering amyloid fibril accumulation, stabilizing BSA secondary structures, and binding partial glycation sites. PGG also displays effective trapping capacities on MGO reactive intermediate. This research suggests PGG as a potential functional ingredient in food materials for preventing diabetic syndrome.

Summary: This study discovered that Rhizobium pusense JCM 16209T has the ability to catalyze regioselective glycosylation. By cloning and expressing two α-glucosidases, it was found that RpG I exhibited high glycosylation activity towards resveratrol. The research suggests that RpG I can glycosylate a wide range of substrates, which is significant for precise synthesis of glycosides.
