Summary: Thymoquinone (TQ), the main active constituent of Nigella sativa, has shown broad-spectrum antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. However, its clinical use has been hindered by limited solubility and bioavailability. To overcome these limitations, a targeted delivery system using nanotechnology to deliver TQ to the lungs is needed.

Summary: The crystal structure and phase behavior of bisamide gelators were studied using various scientific methods, such as DSC, FTIR spectroscopy, XRD, and molecular modeling. The results show that the thermal properties and structure of the bisamide gelators exhibit an odd-even effect. The differences in the hydrogen bonding motifs and alkyl tail packing between the odd and even series of compounds contribute to the observed odd-even effect.

Summary: New green fungicides developed through structural optimization of natural products can effectively address the low safety and high pathogen resistance issues associated with traditional fungicides. In this study, a series of L-serine-derived pyrazole amide and waltherione alkaloid-derived pyrazole ester derivatives were synthesized based on the pyrazole amide compound h-I-9 with excellent fungicidal activity. Compound II-5 exhibited good inhibition against Physalospora piricola, potentially causing damage to cell membranes and vacuoles and producing blue fluorescence in treated hyphae. Additionally, compounds 1-3 and 1-4 showed potential as succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) inhibitors against Alternaria sp.

Summary: The development of azobenzene polymer photoactuators with full room-temperature reprogrammability, reprocessability, and photo-mobility has always been a challenge. This study presents a strategy for fabricating such advanced photoactuators using a high-molecular-weight main-chain azo crystalline poly(ester-amide) prepared via Michael addition polymerization. The resulting photoactuators show reversible photoinduced bending/unbending at room temperature and can be easily reprogrammed into various three-dimensional shapes.

Summary: In this study, a flower-like Fe(OH)3@Co2(OH)2CO3 catalyst was prepared using L-phenylalanine, which facilitated the formation of active iron centers anchored on Co2(OH)2CO3 nanosheet supports. The catalyst showed highly efficient catalytic activity for the degradation of dye and removal of antibiotics. Furthermore, the combination of nanofibrous membranes with Fe(OH)3@Co2(OH)2CO3 catalysts exhibited great potential for large-scale dye removal and demonstrated stability.

Summary: An advanced Ni(II)-metallogel, Ni-D-TA, was synthesized and characterized for its mechanical stability, rock-like morphology, semiconducting nature, and optoelectronic device application capabilities. Experimental studies showed that light irradiation enhanced the device parameters and charge transport properties, increasing the rectification ratio to two-fold. This photosensing metallogel with Schottky behavior advances the field of optoelectronic devices.

Summary: DHEA, a natural secondary metabolite, gradually decreases after the age of 30. Supplementing DHEA can improve the well-being, sexual functions, and mental capacity of elderly individuals, and it may also help treat various diseases. However, its use is limited to medical prescription only in the Czech Republic due to its classification as an anabolic androgen and the potential for doping.
