Summary: The lymphatic vascular system plays a crucial role in maintaining tissue fluid homeostasis and immune surveillance. Promoting lymphatic function can be a new approach to treat various diseases. Through screening of plant extracts, pheophorbide a was identified as a compound that can induce lymphangiogenesis. Pheophorbide a may serve as a novel natural therapeutic agent to treat human lymphatic vascular insufficiencies.

Summary: The study found that Polygonum perfoliatum L. (PPL) can protect against hepatic steatosis, lipid peroxidation, and glucose-lipid metabolism dysfunction in NAFLD mice. This is achieved through altering the PPARs/CPT1A/CPT2-mediated hepatic fatty acid beta-oxidation process. The active components of PPL with anti-NAFLD activity were identified using UPLC/QE-HFX.

Summary: A glyphosate-resistant plantago population in South Africa was found to be 43-fold resistant to glyphosate due to a point mutation in the EPSPS gene and lower shikimate accumulation. This rapid evolution of resistance threatens global food production and requires new weed management strategies.

Summary: This study explores the mechanisms of the effects of acetamiprid (ACE), cyromazine (CYR), and their mixture (MIX) on cowpea using metabolomic and transcriptomic methods. The results show that these pesticides do not significantly affect the plant's biomass or growth status but reduce the contents of starch, soluble protein, and total flavonoids. ACE affects amino acid metabolism, while CYR and MIX affect sugar metabolism and flavonoid synthesis pathways. MIX causes the most significant decrease in the metabolite content of cowpea.

Summary: This study isolated and identified bioactive compounds, including miscandenin and onopordin, from the dichloromethane extract of Mikania periplocifolia. These compounds showed antiprotozoal activity against Trypanosoma cruzi, T. brucei, and Leishmania braziliensis. Miscandenin in particular exhibited strong antiprotozoal activity. The pharmacokinetic and physicochemical properties of miscandenin were also assessed, demonstrating its potential as a candidate for further preclinical studies.

Summary: Ten undescribed cadinane-type sesquiterpenes were isolated from the whole plant of Eupatorium chinense. Their planar structures were elucidated mainly through analysis of spectroscopic data and DFT NMR calculations, with the absolute configurations determined by various experimental methods. A possible biosynthetic pathway for these new sesquiterpenes was proposed.

Summary: Foliar application of salicylic acid improves salt tolerance of fenugreek plants by increasing chlorophyll content index and reducing malondialdehyde content, while promoting accumulation of proline, total phenolics, and flavonoids. Additionally, it enhances total free amino acids and shikimic acid, and activates antioxidant enzymes such as ascorbate peroxidase, peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, and catalase.
