Summary: The study analyzed the role of EGFR-specific terminal alpha 2,6-sialylation in modulating the malignant phenotype of CRC cells and their resistance to Cetuximab. The results showed that CRC cells with increased ST6Gal1 expression and displaying terminal alpha 2,6-sialylation exhibited marked resistance to Cetuximab-induced cytotoxicity.

Summary: The reaction of tri-coordinated boranes with cyclometalated low-electron count platinum complexes forms sigma-BH species with rare eta(1)-coordination mode under low temperature, which are thermally unstable and undergo carbon-boron coupling process under kinetic and thermodynamic control depending on the NHC ligand. The energy barriers for C-B bond formation events are lower than the competitive reactions leading to C-H bond formation, with different outcomes observed for different NHC ligands.

Summary: Mutations in the POMT1 gene lead to low glycosylation of protein α-DG, frequently observed in rare muscular dystrophies. Study on Pomt1 cKO mice reveals proteomic changes and structural alterations in photoreceptor cells. Besides the impaired α-DG glycosylation, morphological alterations related to an understudied POMT1 substrate, BBSome proteins, and retinal stress markers are also observed.

Summary: This study presents a high-resolution structure of the prototypical long pentraxin, PTX3, and reveals a radically different quaternary structure compared to other pentraxins. The structure was obtained using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and AlphaFold prediction. The resulting structure provides insights into ligand binding sites and can potentially inform the development of therapies for conditions such as COVID-19, cancer, and female infertility.

Summary: We have demonstrated the dimerization and oligomerization reactions of ethylene using bis(phosphino)boryl supported Ni(II) complexes as catalyst precursors. The addition of alkylaluminum(III) compounds or other Lewis acid additives enhances the activity and selectivity of these Ni(II) complexes, leading to the production of butenes and higher olefins. Our studies suggest that this catalysis involves a cooperative activation of ethylene by the Ni-B unit, resulting in the formation of a key borametallacycle intermediate.

Summary: The concept of metal-ligand cooperation introduces new possibilities in catalyst design, showing how the electronic properties of ligands can be modified by a boron center and exhibiting their ambiphilic nature. This cooperative mechanism involves two boryl ligands in the same molecule operating differently, one as a Lewis acid and the other as a Lewis base, in cooperation with the metal.
