Summary: The reduction of IGF1R expression is associated with the upregulation of pathways necessary for promoting metastasis in breast cancer. Functional analysis reveals that decreased IGF1R signaling leads to a dysregulation of cadherin expression, resulting in reduced cell adhesion.

Summary: This study found that TBC1D2 is upregulated in ovarian cancer (OC) and promotes tumor metastasis through E-cadherin degradation. Additionally, miR-373-3p inhibits OC cell invasion by negatively regulating TBC1D2.

Summary: The study demonstrates that TG2 interacts with and activates ILK in ovarian cancer cells and tumors, leading to cell adhesion, proliferation, and migration. Co-expression of TG2 and ILK correlates with poor clinical outcomes. These findings reveal a new mechanism that links extracellular matrix cues with beta-catenin signaling in OC.

Summary: This study demonstrates that EMT in pancreatic cancer leads to decreased chemosensitivity to gemcitabine, with N-cadherin and EpCAM playing important roles in regulating ENT1 expression and membrane localization. Tumors expressing EpCAM had higher ENT1 levels and reduced metastasis, while tumors with N-cadherin expression were resistant to gemcitabine and formed extensive secondary metastatic nodules. Co-expression of EpCAM and ENT1 positively predicted survival in patients treated with adjuvant gemcitabine.

Summary: Neuroblastoma is a biologically heterogeneous tumor derived from neural crest cells, and its treatment remains challenging. The expression of cell adhesion molecules in neuroblastoma is closely associated with clinical prognosis, and targeted therapies against cell adhesion molecules may represent an innovative treatment strategy in the future.

Summary: The loss of epithelial integrity and the role of autophagy in cancer progression, particularly in the context of dysregulation of cell adhesion molecules like E-cadherin, are crucial factors. Cell adhesion and EMT play significant roles in the transition process of cancer, while autophagy may have dual effects on tumor progression, acting as both a suppressor and a promoter through mechanisms like EMT and drug resistance.

Summary: Research has shown that quercetin inhibits the survival and proliferation of human metastatic ovarian cancer cells by inactivating PI3K/Akt, Ras/Raf pathways, and EGFR expression. It also alters N-cadherin expression, decreases gelatinase secretion and MMP-2/-9 gene expression, and inhibits migration and adhesion of the cancer cells. These findings suggest that quercetin could be a valuable therapeutic drug for the treatment and prevention of metastatic ovarian cancer.

Summary: The present study aimed to explore the significance and molecular mechanisms of galectin-1 (LGALS1) in ovarian cancer (OC). The results demonstrated that LGALS1 mRNA expression was markedly increased in OC and associated with advanced tumor, lymphatic metastasis and residual lesions. The enrichment analysis revealed that the upregulated differentially expressed genes were primarily associated with the metastasis of cancer cells. The study highlighted that LGALS1 may regulate cell adhesion and participate in the development of OC, making it a potential therapeutic target.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzes cell-cell contacts in multilayered tissues of the Xenopus gastrula model, identifying varying roles of different factors in intercellular contacts, with Syndecan-4 playing a dominant role. By systematically examining the contributions of adhesion factors to intercellular contacts, the study sheds light on the complexity of cell-cell interactions.

Summary: The glycoprotein mesothelin is overexpressed in ovarian cancer and may play a role in tumor progression by affecting the peritoneal ultrastructure and mesothelial cell surface architecture. Reduced expression of host mesothelin could result in smaller tumor aggregates and decreased peritoneal metastatic tumor burden in mice.

Summary: Ovarian cancer cells undergo EMT-like changes during the development of chemoresistance, and these changes are regulated by DNA methylation. Specifically, the EMT genes CDH1 and EPCAM show increased DNA methylation and down-regulated gene expression in the cisplatin-resistant A2780cis cells, while the mesenchymal marker TWIST2 exhibits decreased DNA methylation and up-regulated gene expression. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the molecular alterations associated with chemoresistance and may provide potential therapeutic targets for improving chemotherapy sensitivity and efficacy.

Summary: By integrating single-cell sequencing data, researchers discovered a cell subcluster closely associated with metastasis in ovarian cancer and identified RAB13 as its key marker. Experimental results showed that downregulation of RAB13 expression can reduce migration and invasion of ovarian cancer cells, and several potential drugs that may inhibit RAB13 were predicted. This study provides new insights and potential therapeutic targets for the research on ovarian cancer metastasis.

Summary: Antigen-antibody proximity labeling (AAPL) is a novel method to map the antigen interaction sites as well as interactors of antibody-targeted proteins. Oxidative proteomic analysis can determine the degree of oxidation, the site of oxidation within the targeted antigen, and the interacting proteins that were in close proximity to the targeted antigen.
