Summary: This study compared the return to work (RTW) time between single-port laparoscopic surgery (SPLS) and multiport laparoscopic surgery (MPLS) for women with benign ovarian tumors. The results showed that SPLS was associated with a significantly shorter RTW time compared to MPLS, and age, surgical approach, and time to return to normal activity were independent factors affecting the RTW time.

Summary: This study compared the surgical outcomes of single-port laparoscopic surgery (SPLS) and single-port robotic surgery (SPRS) and found that SPRS had comparable outcomes to SPLS. Therefore, SPRS can be considered a feasible and safe option for gynecologic patients.

Summary: The study compared the clinical application of single-port laparoscopic myomectomy with traditional three-port laparoscopic myomectomy in 120 patients. Results showed that the single-port laparoscopic group had shorter specimen removal time, postoperative ambulation time, first exhaust time after surgery, and length of hospital stay, with higher satisfaction of abdominal wall scar. However, the duration of surgery was significantly longer in the single-port laparoscopic group.

Summary: This study proposes a new type of manual training platform for single-port minimally invasive surgery. It imitates the structure of a human arm and allows for the cooperative operation of multiple surgical instruments under a single incision. The effectiveness and reliability of the platform have been validated through a series of experiments.

Summary: This study compared the perioperative outcomes of stoma-site approach single-port laparoscopic Miles procedure and conventional multi-port laparoscopic Miles procedure in patients with low rectal cancer, as well as evaluated the safety and efficacy of stoma-site approach single-port laparoscopic surgery in low rectal cancer. The results showed no significant differences in intraoperative bleeding, number of lymph nodes, average hospital stay, and time to flatulence between the two groups, but significant differences in operation duration and perioperative complications. Patients in the single-port laparoscopic surgery group had significantly higher satisfaction scores than those in the multi-port laparoscopic surgery group.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate how spacing between ports and alignment of ports impact manipulation angles in robotic colorectal surgery. Analysis of CT scans from 10 patients undergoing robotic right hemicolectomy and robotic high anterior resection showed that a port spacing of 8 cm resulted in greater manipulation angles compared to 6 cm spacing. Interestingly, wider manipulation angles were not achieved with vertical port alignment except for dissection at the splenic flexure in the 6-cm port spacing condition. Ultimately, the study concluded that oblique 8-cm port spacing yielded the greatest manipulation angles and should be favored in most cases.

Summary: The study systematically reviewed literature on artificial intelligence in robot-assisted surgery, highlighting limitations and challenges. While precision for surgical tools detection varied, there were notable accuracies in predicting outcomes like urinary continence and length of stay. The reviewed studies were of low quality due to small dataset sizes, and there is an urgent need for larger studies for external validation of AI algorithms.
