Summary: This study examined the effects of perinatal exposure to anti-androgens DEHP and procymidone on ovarian development in female rat offspring. The results showed an increase in newly recruited follicles and altered steroid hormone levels in prepubertal animals, as well as a trend towards accelerated loss of follicle reserves in adulthood. These findings suggest that exposure to these chemicals may have severe consequences for female fertility.

Summary: Freshwater fish populations are declining globally, and many small Australian fish species may face extinction within the next twenty years. Cryopreservation of reproductive cells and tissues allows for the possibility of reproducing individuals even after a species becomes extinct in the wild. Researchers have successfully developed a cryopreservation protocol for the ovarian tissue of the Murray River Rainbowfish, which can serve as a model for the conservation of other fish species in Australia and worldwide.

Summary: Acupuncture and metformin can improve ovary morphology and function in DHEA-induced PCOS model rats, reducing weight gain, FSH, LH, and T levels while increasing E-2 and P levels significantly. IL-6 and visfatin levels were also decreased in both treatment groups.

Summary: This research assessed the effects of the ethanolic extract of Annona muricata on liver cirrhosis in rats. The results showed that the extract significantly reduced liver damage, down-regulated certain proteins, and increased antioxidant enzyme activity. The serum levels of liver markers were also restored to normal. This study suggests that the extract has a protective effect on the liver.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of ovaries storage on oocytes for the purpose of cryopreserving avian female gametes by using chickens as a model. The results show that storing the ovaries at low temperatures (4 degrees C) can maintain the viability and morphology of oocytes, while storage at room temperature leads to rapid decline and apoptosis. Additionally, the study demonstrates that ovarian tissues stored at low temperatures can recover after cryopreservation.

Summary: This study used histology and stereology to estimate the sexual maturity phase of the European Plaice and described the oogenesis cycle and size at first maturity. It provides a method for accurately determining a key parameter for fisheries management that may be applicable to other species.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the relative abundances of ABC transporters mRNA transcripts in ovine ovarian tissue after vitrification and in vitro culture. The results showed a negative correlation between degenerated follicles and mRNA transcript abundances of ABCB1 and ABCG2, with a significant decrease in the percentage of growing follicles after in vitro culture. Further studies are needed to explore the functions of ABC transporters in ovine folliculogenesis after in vitro culture.

Summary: Tissue cryopreservation allows long term storage of biomaterials in medicine, with ovarian tissue cryopreservation being particularly beneficial in extending fertility window for patients. However, protecting against tissue injury during the thawing process has been challenging due to the heterogeneous and slow thermal energy distribution in vitrified tissue. Nanowarming, using hyperthermia of magnetic nanoparticles, has shown potential in accelerating the thawing process and preventing injury in cryopreserved ovarian tissue.

Summary: The study found that watermelon seeds and their oil have beneficial effects on the human body, with a rich nutritional profile and biologically active fatty acids. Watermelon seed oil demonstrated significant biochemical effects in rats, suggesting its potential as an affordable nutraceutical. Further studies are recommended to explore the biological activity and safety of long-term use of watermelon seed oil.

Summary: This study aims to explore the parameters of age, indications, storage characteristics, and reasons for tissue disposal in a large cohort of individuals undertaking cryopreservation. The majority of patients ended their storage due to pregnancy, a lack of desire to have children, expensive storage fees, and cancer recurrence. Interdisciplinary counseling is recommended before fertility preservation and when intending to end storage.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of cryopreservation on vessel wall structure using porcine aortic grafts, finding that there were only minor structural changes in the first three months of cryopreservation and an improvement in thermal stability after the 6th week of storage. The utilization of deep-freeze biological grafts with short storage time could lead to favorable outcomes.
