The syntheses of mesoporous MCM-41 silica phases containing the heteroatoms Al, B, Zn, were carried out making use of trimethyl ammonium bromide surfactants of chain lengths C-8-C-16. The resulting materials were fully characterised by wet chemical and instrumental analysis, PXRD, MASNMR, nitrogen porosimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis. (C) 2009 Elsevier Inc.
