Summary: This study assessed the effects of estradiol on pancreatitis severity using an ovariectomized mouse model. Findings suggest that ovariectomy leads to changes in acinar cell ultrastructure and biomarkers of pancreatitis, and estradiol pre-treatment only partially rescues these changes. The ovariectomized mouse model should be used with caution in pancreatic studies, and future research should investigate the effects of other female hormones on pancreatic studies.

Summary: Sesame seeds have therapeutic effects on bone-related health issues due to their rich content of calcium, vitamins, proteins, oil, and carbohydrates. This comprehensive review explores the impact of sesame seeds on bone mineralization in postmenopausal women and highlights their positive influence on bone health, particularly for those with osteoporosis and arthritis. The supplementation of sesame seeds in a regular diet is found to have a protective role and improve hormone balance in women experiencing menopause.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of estrogen deficiency on the structure and mechanical properties of cortical bone in rats. The results showed that estrogen deficiency led to lower lacunar volume and density, as well as reduced vascular canal volume, in the cortical bone. However, there were no significant differences in the indentation moduli between the study groups.

Summary: An irrigation trial conducted in the Karst region showed that a deficit irrigation regime of 20% ETC led to a significant increase in both total and extractable anthocyanin concentrations in grapes, along with a higher degree of galloylation in proanthocyanidins. These findings may contribute to enhancing the potential quality of wine.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the flavonoid phytoestrogen fisetin from fruits and vegetables can protect against the cardiotoxic effects of Doxorubicin (DOX) by activating estrogen receptors. The mechanism by which fisetin exerts cardioprotective effects against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity was elucidated.

Summary: This study investigated the estrogenic effect of M. aboensis root extract as a potential alternative for hormone replacement therapy. Phytoestrogen-rich fraction showed potential in increasing uterine weight and protecting liver and kidney against damage induced by ovariectomy. The study suggests the potential use of the plant extract as an alternative to HRT.

Summary: Gestational exposure to cadmium (Cd) impairs cognitive function in adult male offspring, accompanied by reduced levels of 17β-estradiol (E2) in the male fetal brain. Downregulation of synapse-associated proteins and placental estrogen synthesis inhibition were observed upon Cd exposure, which could be reversed by E2 supplementation. Placental estrogen synthesis disruption and activation of the GCN2 signaling pathway were also observed, but could be restored through inhibiting GCN2 activity. Antistress agent N-Acetyl-L-cysteine significantly alleviated Cd-induced fetal brain injury and cognitive impairment in adult offspring.

Summary: This study aims to summarize the current understanding of the effects of menopause on osteoarthritis (OA) in animal models and investigate the impact of dosage and timing of estrogen treatment on cartilage degeneration. The results show that post-menopausal animals have worse cartilage outcomes compared to non-menopausal animals, and early initiation and higher doses of estrogen treatment may improve cartilage health.
