Summary: Non-secretory multiple myeloma (NSMM) is a distinct type of multiple myeloma characterized by the absence of detectable monoclonal protein. A case study reported here showed a relapsed and refractory NSMM patient with TFG-ALK fusion and brain metastasis had a dramatic and durable response to commercially available ALK inhibitors, highlighting the beneficial role of molecular profiling in this target-poor disease.

Summary: The first examples of rearrangement reactions of allylic silanol substrates into linear ketone and 5-membered cyclic silanediol organomercurial products are presented in this study. The reactions are mediated by Hg(OTf)(2) and show differences in the use of base, solvent, and temperature. Mechanistic studies suggest that these products result from a series of cascading transformations in one pot, with a DFT analysis providing insights into the rearrangement process.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of grain boundary on the reactions of lithium metal anodes and proposes a heteroatom-concentrated grain boundary as a strategy to inhibit intercrystalline reactions. The scalable preparation of the grain boundary is demonstrated, leading to a significant improvement in the cycling performance of the lithium battery.

Summary: A new strategy for the synthesis of various alpha,beta-unsaturated (E)-alkenylphosphonamidates was proposed, which involved a tandem reaction sequence without the need for external hydride donors. The reaction showed excellent stereo- and regioselectivities, providing a mild and efficient method for the preparation of (E)-alk-1-enylphosphonamidates.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have great potential as electrode materials for high-performance lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), due to their easy structure control, abundant tunable porous structures, and reversible redox behavior of electroactive organic groups. However, most reported COFs have low capacity due to the inability of the backbone moiety's aromatic conjugated structure to participate in redox reactions. In this study, an imine bond-rich COF (TAACOF) with reversible Li-ion bonding was developed, which greatly improved the electrode capacity by inducing lithium ions to combine with the aromatic conjugated structure.

Summary: Solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is crucial for the stability of non-aqueous batteries. However, the quantitative understanding of electrolyte decomposition mechanism is limited. In this study, the apparent electron transfer number (ETN) is obtained as a quantitative descriptor in lithium metal batteries, providing insights into the decomposition mechanism of electrolyte components.

Summary: In this study, a kinetically stabilized benzoborirene was shown to react with multiple bonds of trimethylphosphine oxide, acetaldehyde, and tert-butyl isonitrile. The reaction products and coordination compounds were characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. The reactivity of the benzoborirene is in agreement with computational analyses.

Summary: In this study, it was shown that a kinetically stabilized benzoborirene 1 can react with trimethylphosphine oxide, acetaldehyde, and tert-butyl isonitrile. The reaction with trimethylphosphine oxide resulted in the formation of benzo[c][1,2,5]oxaphosphaborole, which exhibited a long apical PO bond. The reactivity of benzoborirene 1 was consistent with computational analyses.

Summary: The charge and discharge mechanisms in lithium sulfur batteries are complex and involve multiple reactions. CeO2 nanorods supported bimetallic nickel cobalt oxide (NiCo2Ox) can restrain the shuttle of polysulfides and stimulate rapid redox reactions in lithium sulfur batteries. The battery with NiCo2Ox/CeO2 nanorods demonstrates high discharge capacity, stable cycling, low voltage polarization, and high sulfur utilization.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of lorlatinib as a single agent and in combination with chemotherapy in children and adults with relapsed or refractory ALK-driven neuroblastoma that is resistant to crizotinib. The preliminary results showed that lorlatinib achieved the pre-specified primary endpoints and has the potential to be used in clinical treatment for newly diagnosed high-risk ALK-driven neuroblastoma patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the activity of ALK inhibitors in ALK-rearranged renal cell carcinoma (ALK-RCC) and found that first- and second-generation ALK inhibitors showed favorable activity in pretreated ALK-RCC patients in terms of radiological response and performance status improvement. The results suggest the potential of ALK inhibitors as a targeted therapy for ALK-RCC.

Summary: Various advanced characterization technologies have been employed to understand and improve the electrochemical performance of aprotic lithium-oxygen batteries, with isotope labeling proving to be a particularly powerful technique. This review focuses on the current understanding of reactions and chemistry in Li-O-2 batteries using isotope-labeling techniques, emphasizing the formation mechanism of product species and identification of reaction interfaces. The authors call for isotope-labeling-related kinetic analysis to clarify remaining controversial issues.
