Summary: This study investigated the impacts of online learning on clinical skills acquisition in a preclinical cohort. The findings revealed that students' confidence in skills acquisition decreased with the shift to online learning. However, overall, the clinical skills examination results did not show significant differences compared to previous cohorts, except for one procedural skill (venepuncture) where the disrupted cohort had lower scores.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate how clinical teachers' leadership behaviors can impact students' perception of psychological safety in the clinical learning environment. The findings showed that factors such as building good relationships, emphasizing learning, setting clear expectations, granting autonomy, and providing frequent feedback contribute to promoting psychological safety. On the other hand, educator disinterest in students, dismissal of questions, lack of autonomy, and unclear expectations were reported as destructive of psychological safety. The presence of psychological safety increases students' sense of belonging, self-efficacy, and engagement.

Summary: This survey study found that medical students who are underrepresented in medicine (URIM) had a higher risk of exhaustion-related burnout. This burnout is likely multifactorial and could be attributed to resilience or survival bias, increased responsibilities, and recurrent discrimination. The study highlights the importance of the learning environment in mitigating burnout among both URIM and non-URIM medical students, emphasizing the need for further research.

Summary: The review identified gaps in the literature on emotional intelligence, with key points being: disagreement on the definition of EI, uncertainty about whether EI is a trait or an ability, and variability in instruments used to measure EI. It is suggested that using EI as a component of the admission process may be beneficial, higher EI is likely associated with improved clinical reasoning, and higher EI contributes to more effective stress management.

Summary: This study aimed to identify influencing factors for medical students' perceptions of the medical school learning environment. Significant predictors such as gender, university category, grade, mother education level were found to be associated with medical students' perceptions. The establishment of nomograms showed promising predictive accuracy, discrimination, and accordance with the model. It is essential to implement corresponding interventions to improve medical students' perceptions of the learning environment.

Summary: This study investigated the most used coping strategies among Italian medical students and explored gender differences as well as the impact of empathy on coping. The findings showed that females scored higher on social support and transcendent orientation. Empathic concern was positively associated with social support and transcendent orientation. The study suggests that educational and psychological counseling interventions targeting empathy should be implemented in the early years of medical education to help students cope effectively with the emotional distress associated with medical school.
