Summary: This study aims to investigate the impacts of climate variability on Chinese cabbage economic yields in South Korea and develop a yield prediction model using machine learning techniques. The results show that there are variations in economic yields and revenue for different Chinese cabbage groups under different climate change and cropping management plans. These findings provide farmers with a better understanding of the relationship between production and economic benefits in future climate change scenarios.

Summary: In response to growing concerns about the adverse brain health effects on former football players, the Football Association of England has recently introduced a trial ban on heading for players under 12 years old. This is a positive step forward, but broader interventions to protect brain health should not be overlooked.

Summary: When observing migrating insects at altitude, the ambiguity in heading direction can be resolved by observing multiple individual insects and their spread in heading directions. A vector analysis of radar-measured data can provide consistent results for all insects in a sample.

Summary: This article proposes a robust heading estimation algorithm for smartphones, which integrates the gradient descent (GD) approach and genetic algorithm (GA) to compute the heading angle of smartphones and reduce the heading error accumulation induced by the errors of sensors. The algorithm utilizes the accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope to estimate the heading angle, and employs a fitness function based on the squared triaxial errors of geomagnetic strength and acceleration to enhance accuracy and suppress error accumulation. The gyroscope's angular velocity is used to initialize the genetic algorithm, and a search area adjustment strategy based on gradient descent is devised to improve convergence rate and local search capability. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm achieves better heading estimation accuracy across three smartphones and four orientations, with an average heading error of 1.577 degrees on the Mate 20 smartphone.

Summary: To navigate, animals use visual landmarks to orient themselves within an environment. The authors show how neuronal populations in the retrosplenial cortex can use visual input to align the animal's internal compass to landmarks in the external world. Spatial cognition depends on an accurate representation of orientation within an environment.

Summary: This paper proposes a new method to improve the estimation accuracy of both the vehicle heading angle and the IMU heading mounting angle by leveraging GNSS course angle as an additional measurement. The method utilizes an error state Kalman filter and enhances the observability and accuracy of the system.

Summary: Youth soccer players have a low frequency of heading, with boys heading more often than girls, but girls experience higher head impact magnitudes. Heading activities may result in headaches and balance deficits. Research on youth soccer players needs to be expanded for better understanding of the consequences of repetitive head impacts.

Summary: This paper proposes a robust dynamic heading tracking control method for wave gliders. The method combines a modified active disturbance rejection controller (MADRC) and an improved anti-windup (IAW) compensator, which significantly improves heading tracking accuracy in real time and controls appropriate actuator power consumption. A reduced-order extended state observer (RESO) is designed to estimate and compensate uncertain disturbance, and the IAW is applied to handle actuator saturation problem, further reducing convergence time and power consumption in heading control.

Summary: The study employed a Mobile Brain/Body Imaging approach to investigate the role of the human RSC in heading computation during physical movement, revealing synchronization in wide frequency bands in RSC, parietal, and occipital cortices. Results suggest the human RSC is involved in heading computation based on visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive input, challenging traditional findings of alpha band desynchronization in navigation network areas during spatial orientation in movement-restricted participants.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between visual and tactile stimuli in heading perception. Visual stimuli dominated the perception, but tactile stimuli also had a significant influence. Changes in head orientation did not affect the perception of heading, while changes in eye orientation affected tactile heading perception.

Summary: This paper proposes a robust H-infinity control method based on extended homogeneous polynomial Lyapunov function (EHPLF) for the nonlinear parameter-varying (NPV) model of unmanned surface vehicle, considering the velocities on yaw and surge as well as wave disturbances. The method aims to regulate heading with superior performance on rapidity, accuracy, and robustness. The design involves establishing a NPV model of heading error, deriving the robust H-infinity stability conditions using Euler's homogeneity relation, and solving the conditions through matrix transformations. Simulation results demonstrate the superior performance of the EHPLF method in terms of dynamics, steady-state, and robustness.
