A Cu-2.92 at.% Cr-1.87 at.% Zr alloy was processed by chill block melt spinning (CBMS) and the influence of cobalt additions on its microstructure and on its mechanical and electrical properties was evaluated in the as-spun condition and after ageing at 400 and 450 degrees C. When added to the Cu-Cr-Zr alloy, cobalt formed an intermetallic phase with Cr and Zr during melt spinning, thus limiting the amount of both solutes incorporated in solid solution, and consequently, reducing the mechanical properties obtained on ageing.
