In this paper, cutting force and surface roughness are investigated by vibratory rotary tool and then these results are compared with results gained by ordinary rotary tool. First, designing of a device is done that can transfer ultrasonic vibration to rotary turning tool. For vibration of turning tool, a stainless steel horn is designed and manufactured in frequency of 20,618Hz. Ultrasonic vibration is transferred to rotary tool by ultrasonic generator, transducer, horn, jig and fixture, and rotary tool devises. A round tool with diameter of 10mm was chosen for turning and experiments. Experiments are applied on Al2O3 and steel MO40. The achieved results prove that in vibratory rotary turning process, cutting force and surface roughness reduce in comparison with rotary turning process.
