Summary: Thermally stable, waterproof, hydrophilic, breathable poly(urethane-imide) (PUI) films were developed as a potential replacement for existing polyurethanes (PU) in waterproof breathable clothing. The PUI films showed higher waterproofness and breathability than PU films due to the presence of imide functionalities, as well as improved thermal stability.

Summary: Polyurethane can be modified with thermally stable aromatic imide structures to enhance its mechanical and thermal properties. In this study, imide-containing isocyanate-terminated prepolymers were synthesized in solvent-free conditions and used to prepare PUI elastomers with improved char formation and stiffness. The aromatic PUI elastomer also showed enhanced flame retardancy. This work demonstrates the potential use of imide prepolymers in high thermal stability and flame retardant PU applications.

Summary: Polyamic acid (PAA) was synthesized using specific monomers and transformed into colorless transparent poly(amide imide) (CPAI) hybrid films. The CPAI hybrid films were prepared by dispersing organoclay STN in CPAI, and the properties were studied based on the dispersed STN content. While some clay were agglomerated, most clays were well-dispersed in nano-size. The best thermomechanical properties were achieved with an STN content of 3 wt%.

Summary: In this study, ternary superparamagnetic nanocomposites consisting of graphene oxide (GO), Fe3O4 nanoparticles, and optically active poly(amide-imide) (PAI) were successfully fabricated. The nanocomposites exhibited excellent properties after a facile one-pot synthesis of Fe3O4 on GO, modification of Fe3O4@GO, and subsequent composite formation with chiral PAI.

Summary: This study established a highly efficient catalyst-free synthetic method for optically active polysulfonamide derivatives with controlled linear architecture using chiral bis(2-substituted N-sulfonyl aziridines) as catalysts. Novel poly(sulfonamide amine)s were synthesized through step-growth polymerization, achieving good yields. A one-pot, two-step protocol was developed for the synthesis of poly(sulfonamide dithiocarbamate)s using in situ generated bis(dialkyldithiocarbamate) as the nucleophile. This approach avoided the branches or cross-linkages derived from the homo-polymerization of aziridines.
