Summary: A convenient chemiluminescence method for thiourea determination was proposed based on the thiourea quenching of the chemiluminescence of Tb3+/ prulifloxacin sensitized KMnO4-Na2SO3 system. The method showed linear calibration graphs in a certain concentration range with satisfactory spiked recoveries. Additionally, a possible mechanism of sensitization and quenching was proposed to explain the process.

Summary: A flow injection (FI) methodology using the acidic potassium permanganate (KMnO4)-rhodamine-B (Rh-B) reaction with chemiluminescence (CL) detection was developed for the determination of acetochlor and cartap-HCl pesticides in freshwater samples. The method showed good linearity and sensitivity, with LODs and LOQs as low as 7.5 x 10(-4) mg L-1 and 2.5 x 10(-3) mg L-1, respectively. The method was able to accurately estimate the concentrations of acetochlor and cartap-HCl in spiked freshwater samples, with recoveries ranging from 93% to 112% and 98% to 109%, respectively. The most probable CL reaction mechanism was also explored.

Summary: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is common in cancer patients but poorly managed due to the lack of reliable diagnostic techniques. In this study, a near-infrared chemiluminophore (MPBD) was synthesized and developed into a water-soluble activatable probe (CalCL) for in vivo imaging of CIPN. The probe allows for sensitive detection of paclitaxel-mediated CIPN in living mice, which is not achievable with fluorescence imaging. This research not only develops a highly efficient chemiluminescent probe, but also presents the first optical imaging approach for high-throughput screening of neurotoxic drugs.

Summary: Acridine and its derivatives (9-chloroacridine and 9-aminoacridine) supported on zeolite Y were investigated for their potential as delivery systems for anticancer agents. Drug loading was successfully achieved on the zeolite surface, with the highest drug release observed for zeolite-supported 9-aminoacridine. The cytotoxicity of the supported acridines on colorectal carcinoma cells was improved by the zeolite carrier, especially for zeolite-impregnated 9-aminoacridine.

Summary: Cancer is a challenging disease to treat, and this study focuses on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of different brominated coelenteramines as potential anticancer molecules. The results highlight the importance of the 4-bromophenyl moiety for their anticancer activity and suggest independent mechanisms of action compared to coelenterazines. One of the studied coelenteramines showed promise in improving the profile of a known chemotherapeutic agent.

Summary: We designed and synthesized a series of novel acridine-triazole and acridine-thiadiazole derivatives. These compounds showed high levels of antitumor activity against gastric cancer cells and bladder cancer cells, while exhibiting low toxicity to normal liver cells. Moreover, their pharmacological mechanisms and effects on cell cycle and apoptosis were evaluated. Furthermore, these compounds demonstrated low cytotoxicity to zebrafish but strong inhibition of the formation of zebrafish sub-intestinal veins, suggesting potential clinical applications.

Summary: This study investigated the yield, kinetics, stoichiometry, and abatement of trace organic contaminants (TrOC) by the permanganate/bisulfite (MS) and permanganate/manganous (MM) processes. The results showed that the TrOC abatement rate in the MS process was significantly higher than that in the MM process, despite the higher rate constant of Mn(III) generation in the former. The contribution of Mn(III) to TrOC abatement was limited in both processes.

Summary: In this research, the biomimetic engineering metal-organic framework (MOF-818) was used to achieve an ultrasensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunoassay of disease markers. By synthesizing a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) containing luminol and three active ligands, the ECL luminescence activity was improved. MOF-818 with biomimetic superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities were then used as quenching agents for a sandwich immunoassay mode. The enzyme activity resulted in the decrease in luminol ECL signal responsiveness. The detection limit for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) was found to be 0.457 pg/mL within a range of 0.001-50 ng/mL. This novel sandwich sensing model based on enzyme activity provides a meaningful potential tool for precise detection, expanding the broader application of nanoenzymes in analysis.

Summary: This study introduces green polyaspartic acid as both reducing and chelating agents to improve the oxidation capacity and utilization efficiency of permanganate. The stabilized Mn(III) species generated in the Mn(VII)/PASP system dominates the degradation of bisphenol A and selectively oxidizes organic contaminants. This work identifies a new approach for high oxidation capacity and efficient utilization of Mn(VII) in oxidation processes.

Summary: A simple and novel method for the determination of acetamiprid in water samples is suggested, based on the reducing effect of acetamiprid on the chemiluminescence intensity of S, N-CQDs. The study found that acetamiprid diminishes the chemiluminescence intensity by competing with S, N-CQDs, providing a proportional reduction for acetamiprid determination.
