It was found that systolic blood pressure (SBP) and hand grip strength (HGS) served as mediators for the effects of lipid metabolism on bone metabolism.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the association between BMD and body composition among Qatari women. The study found that women with low BMD had significantly lower body composition indicators. Lean mass was positively correlated with BMD, while the correlation between fat mass and BMD was negative and weak. The results suggested that fat mass may not be a strong protector of bones among women with a high rate of obesity.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation between body composition, fractures, and telomere length (TL). The results indicated that TL was positively and negatively associated with bone mineral density (BMD) and bone mineral content (BMC) in different body parts. TL was also found to be related to the occurrence of wrist and spine fractures, and this correlation showed some sex specificity. Further research is needed to validate these associations in the skull, upper limbs, and wrists.

Summary: This study analyzed the lumbar volumetric bone mineral density, fat distribution, and skeletal muscle changes in postmenopausal women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using quantitative computed tomography. The study found that T2DM affects abdominal fat deposition in postmenopausal women and that elderly women with diabetes have higher bone mineral density than normal elderly women. There was no correlation between fat distribution or psoas major muscle and bone mineral density in postmenopausal women with diabetes mellitus.

Summary: This study found that postmenopausal women with vertebral fractures had a higher risk associated with older age, shorter height, and lighter weight, with higher BMI observed in those with fractures. Women with osteoporosis were older and had lower height, weight, and BMD compared to those with normal bone health. Lower T-scores and bone mass were significant predictors of vertebral fracture risk.

The results show that BMD is higher in obese children compared to normal weight children, which can be attributed to their greater lean mass rather than excess body fat. However, a higher fat mass in obese children is associated with lower lumbar spine BMD. Lean mass is directly correlated with BMD in all weight groups and is the most important predictor of BMD.
