Summary: This report describes an uncommon case of verrucous carcinoma in the oral cavity with a unique presentation of proliferative verrucous leukoplakia. It highlights the importance of considering verrucous carcinoma in the differential diagnosis of multiple leukoplakias, especially in elderly patients.

Summary: Surgery followed by adjuvant therapy remains the mainstay of treatment for EAC and TB SCC, with better outcomes observed with adjuvant radiotherapy compared to definitive radiotherapy. IMRT is preferred due to lower late morbidity. Elective nodal irradiation is routinely not warranted in the adjuvant setting for EAC and TB squamous cell carcinomas.

Summary: This study investigates the factors associated with the use of postoperative radiation therapy (PORT) and its effect on overall survival (OS) for patients with oral cavity verrucous carcinoma (VC). The results suggest that closer distance to the hospital and stage III-IV disease are associated with the use of PORT, but there is no clear survival benefit with PORT compared to surgery alone.

Summary: Verrucous carcinoma is a rare and highly differentiated variant of squamous cell carcinoma. It is difficult to diagnose preoperatively and surgical excision is recommended as the first-line treatment.

Summary: TBORN tends to occur earlier in older patients, especially those over 50 years old. Conservative management is suitable for localized disease, while surgical intervention is often needed for diffuse disease.

Summary: Accurate epidemiological and outcomes data regarding cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) extending to the temporal bone is lacking. This study found that cSCCs extending to the temporal bone are more common than primary cancers in regions with high sun exposure. Additionally, patients with external ear and pre-auricular tumors, salvage surgery, larger tumor size, nodal disease, and involved margins had lower survival rates.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of adjuvant external beam radiotherapy on the survival of patients with locally invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma. Data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database were used, and Cox models and propensity score matching were employed for analysis. The study found that adjuvant external beam radiotherapy did not provide a survival benefit in the initial management of locally invasive papillary thyroid cancer.

Summary: Cutaneous verrucous carcinoma (CVC) is a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma. This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical and histopathological features of 21 CVC patients and compared them with giant condyloma acuminatum (GCA) and pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia (PEH). The location of CVC is mainly in the foot and lower legs. Distinguishing CVC from its mimics based on clinical and pathological features is important for early diagnosis and aggressive treatment.

Summary: This study is the largest study from the SEER database on NECs-GB, aiming to elucidate the demographic, clinical, and pathologic factors influencing the prognosis and comparative survival analysis of different treatment modalities. The results showed that NECs-GB had a higher incidence amongst females (72.7%) and Caucasians (72.7%). The combination of surgery, radiation, and adjuvant chemotherapy was associated with better long-term (5 years) outcomes, while surgery alone was associated with better short-term (<2 years) outcome survival.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of adjuvant radiation therapy on high T-stage cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas following clear margin surgery. Results showed that adjuvant radiation therapy significantly reduced the risk of local recurrence and locoregional recurrence.

Summary: This retrospective study compares the clinicopathological features of proliferative verrucous leukoplakia, leukoplakia without dysplasia, oral lichen planus/oral lichenoid lesions, and verrucous carcinoma. The findings suggest that proliferative verrucous leukoplakia has persistent aggressive behavior and a high malignant transformation rate, emphasizing the need for detailed definition and long-term close monitoring.

Summary: This study evaluated the factors influencing survival and recurrence after temporal bone resection for cutaneous and salivary malignancies, and found that preoperative facial nerve dysfunction, facial nerve sacrifice, and prior radiation are negative predictors of survival and recurrence.

Summary: This case report presents a FIGO IVB vulvar verrucous carcinoma patient who achieved good prognosis after systemic treatment. The patient underwent neoadjuvant chemotherapy and pembrolizumab, followed by radical vulvectomy, postoperative chemotherapy, pembrolizumab, and radiation therapy, with no residual tumor found postoperatively and disease-free status after 6 months of follow-up. Our individualized treatment strategy with pembrolizumab was safe and effective in treating advanced vulvar verrucous carcinoma with PD-L1 overexpression.

Summary: VSCC is morphologically and genetically distinct from conventional esophageal SCC, with frequent SMARCA4 mutations and infrequent TP53 mutations or CDKN2A/B CNVs. These molecular findings may help with diagnosing the challenging VSCC.
