Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of demographic and clinical characteristics on the likelihood of developing drug resistance in children with epilepsy. Among the 101 children included in the study, 56 showed a good response to antiseizure medications, while 45 had a poor response. Younger patients, those without parental consanguinity and family history of epilepsy, and those diagnosed with partial seizures without adverse effects showed a statistically significant good response to antiseizure medications.

Summary: In a market where risky entrepreneurs seek external funds, crowdfunding and financial intermediation can be compatible methods of investment. This study finds that investors prefer to utilize both crowdfunding and financial intermediation when the risk of crowdfunding investment is at an intermediate level. The research also suggests that crowdfunding becomes more optimal when the transaction costs of investment are high.

Summary: Losses from natural hazards are increasing, with development contributing to the exposure of vulnerable assets and populations to risks. Studies show that a large number of buildings are located in hazard hotspots, a result of decades of sustained growth, indicating potential for even larger future losses if development in hazardous areas is not limited.

Summary: Recent developments in ADCs aim to enhance the cytotoxic effect and therapeutic window of mAbs by linking them to highly toxic drugs. The global ADCs market was valued at USD 1387 million in 2016 and is estimated to reach USD 7.82 billion in 2022, with a projected increase to USD 13.15 billion by 2030. The linkage of substituents to mAb functional groups plays a critical role in increasing efficacy against cancer cells.

Summary: This study explored the efficacy and safety of cannabidiol (CBD) as an add-on treatment for treatment-resistant frontal lobe epilepsy. The results demonstrated that CBD showed promising results in reducing seizure frequency and improving quality of life in patients with refractory epilepsy. Further research with larger sample sizes and longer follow-ups is recommended.

Summary: This study investigated the association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the ABCB1 gene and the response to anti-seizure medications in Saudi pediatric epileptic patients. The results showed a significant association between the rs1045642 and rs2032582 variants and patient responsiveness. Despite the small sample size, the study highlights the importance of personalized treatment for epileptic patients.

Summary: In this study, we integrate the canonical trade model with heterogeneous firms, love for variety, and trade costs into the consumption CAPM model. This leads to a structural gravity equation that incorporates an additional factor related to risk premia. Empirical evidence based on firm-level data confirms the significance of cross-sectional heterogeneity in risk and time-varying risk premia in shaping bilateral trade flows. The augmented structural gravity model, which accounts for fluctuations in risk premia, provides a compelling explanation for trade collapses during abrupt economic downturns.

Summary: In utero exposure to antiepileptic medication can impact cortical activity during neonatal sleep, with effects differing between drugs. These effects on functional brain networks provide prognostic information for later neurodevelopment. This study offers bedside metrics sensitive to the effects of antiepileptic drugs on postnatal neurodevelopment.

Summary: At the end of the 1950s, Pierre Wertheimer established the Pierre Wertheimer Neurological and Neurosurgical Hospital in Lyon, which served as a center for neuroscience, combining hospital and training facilities. The hospital's structure focused on spatial unity, specialized fields, a large patient population, structured training, and cross-communication between areas. The hospital made significant contributions to functional neurosurgery, pain surgery, physiology, epilepsy surgery, and spasticity surgery, fostering collaboration between different teams and laying the groundwork for a neuroscientific doctoral school.

Summary: Inconsistent measurement and reporting in degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) research hinder progress, highlighting the need for a core measurement set (CMS). This protocol outlines the steps for developing the CMS, including identifying constructs to be measured, conducting systematic reviews to identify measurement tools, and selecting the instruments through a consensus meeting. The CMS implementation guidance will be developed following instrument selection.
