Summary: The Solomon technique, with complete coagulation of the vascular equator, has shown significant improvements in survival rates and reduced complications compared to selective ablation of anastomoses in fetoscopic laser coagulation for twin-twin transfusion syndrome. However, it is associated with an increased risk of preterm rupture of membranes and an increased incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

Summary: This study investigated the metabolic changes caused by twin-twin transfusion syndrome and the effects of fetoscopic laser coagulation on placental tissue and cord plasma metabolism. The results showed that cord plasma metabolome performed better in differentiating fetuses with varying hemodynamic statuses. Fetoscopic laser coagulation improved the metabolomic alterations and identified potential biomarkers related to neonatal birth weight and cardiac function.

Summary: This meta-analysis compares the perinatal outcomes of different techniques of fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) for twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) pregnancies. The study finds that Solomon technique is associated with a lower recurrence risk of TTTS but an increased risk of placental abruption compared to the selective technique. There is also a trend for a higher risk of preterm premature rupture of membranes in the Solomon group.

Summary: This study investigates the fetal growth pattern after fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) in twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and the effect of FLP on placental perfusion and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) incidence. The results suggest that FLP can decrease body weight discordance (BWD), improve the prognosis of TTTS, and reduce the incidence of IUGR in donor twins.

Summary: This study compared the perinatal outcomes of pregnancies complicated by chorioamniotic separation (CAS) and septostomy following fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) for twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS). The results showed that both CAS and septostomy were independently associated with higher rates of preterm delivery, and the presence of both conditions increased the risk of prematurity.

Summary: A predictive model for dual survival in monochorionic twin pregnancies following fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) for twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) was developed using a machine-learning algorithm. The model incorporates six variables obtained at the time of diagnosis of TTTS, including donor estimated fetal weight (EFW) < 10(th) percentile, intertwin EFW discordance > 25%, anterior placenta, and abnormal pulsatility index (PI) in the umbilical artery, ductus venosus, and middle cerebral artery of the donor twin.

Summary: The study found that iatrogenic septostomy (IOS) during fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) is associated with increased risk of neonatal morbidity and mortality. IOS is more common with later diagnosis, but less likely when selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) is present. IOS was associated with earlier delivery and increased composite neonatal morbidity.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of gestational age (GA) at the time of fetoscopic laser photocoagulation (FLP) for severe twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) on perinatal outcomes in a single center in Taiwan. The study found that performing FLP at an earlier GA was associated with deeper maximum vertical pocket in the recipient twin, higher rate of PPROM development, and lower rates of twin survival. GA at the time of FLP, cervical length before FLP, and stage III TTTS were associated with the survival of both twins after FLP. Delaying FLP for stage I TTTS cases diagnosed at an early GA without risk factors may be considered, but further trials are needed to determine the optimal delay time and its impact on surgical outcomes.

Summary: One-third of recipient twins born without prenatal FSLC developed life-threatening cardiac failure during the first 24 hours of life. Acute kidney injury was more frequent and severe in the CF group than in the HighBP group. Factors associated with CF included twin anemia-polycythemia sequence, very preterm birth, and polycythemia.

Summary: The study aimed to assess whether CO2 laser treatment is more effective than sham application in relieving symptoms in women with genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM). The results showed that the treatment response after 12 weeks of laser application was comparable to that of the sham applications, and no serious adverse events were reported.

Summary: Fetoscopic video mosaicking can create an expanded field-of-view image of the fetoscopic intraoperative environment to support surgeons during twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome treatment. However, existing methods relying on vessel presence have limitations. We propose a vessel-guided hybrid fetoscopic mosaicking framework that combines placental vessel-based registration and deep learning-based dense matching to improve overall performance. Experimental results demonstrate the robustness of the proposed framework over state-of-the-art methods, even in vessel-free and low-textured fetoscopic views.

However, it is necessary to include rare cases in the current dataset and quality control measures should be implemented to prevent occasional errors.

Summary: This study aims to assess mortality and neurodevelopmental outcomes in children participating in the PlaNeT-2/MATISSE study at 2 years of corrected age. The results show that a higher platelet transfusion threshold is associated with significantly increased mortality or major bleeding compared to a lower one. This further supports evidence of harm caused by high prophylactic platelet transfusion thresholds in preterm infants.

Summary: This retrospective cohort study aimed to describe the outcomes of preterm born infants with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and investigate the associations between prenatal imaging markers and survival. The results showed that prenatal imaging markers, including lung-to-head ratio, stomach position, and total fetal lung volume, were associated with postnatal survival in infants with CDH born at or before 32 weeks of gestation.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the difference in retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) between donors and recipients with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) and identify risk factors for ROP development. The rates of any stage ROP and severe ROP were significantly higher in donors compared to recipients. Donor status, lower gestational age at birth, and longer mechanical ventilation days were independently associated with the occurrence of any stage ROP. Donor status was also associated with the occurrence of severe ROP. Increased awareness for ROP is needed in donors, especially those with lower gestational age at birth and longer duration of mechanical ventilation.
