Summary: Hip arthroplasty is a common procedure, but some patients experience persistent pain after the surgery. The complications depend on various factors such as post-operative delay, material type, patient characteristics, and surgical approach. Radiographs, CT, and MRI are commonly used imaging modalities for diagnosis, but there is still no consensus on the optimal imaging workup for complications.

Summary: This study used cerebral perfusion CT to investigate the functional changes in dementia patients and found that PCT is a reliable modality for early diagnosis of dementia and differentiation of VaD from AD. The perfusion parameters also showed positive correlation with MOCA score, suggesting their potential as surrogate markers for cognitive status in dementia patients.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the frequency and reasons for cross-sectional imaging requested after point-of-care ultrasonography (POCUS) by emergency department clinicians, as well as the diagnostic agreement between POCUS and radiologists. According to the retrospective study of 503 POCUS examinations, cross-sectional imaging was performed in 15.3% of cases, mainly for unassessed pathology suspicion and confirmation of POCUS findings. The agreement between POCUS and additional cross-sectional imaging was high.

Summary: A diagnostic error index (DEI) was developed through a quality improvement (QI) study, providing a pragmatic approach to identify and measure diagnostic errors. The study found that abdominal pain trigger tool, appendicitis, and nonaccidental trauma were the most common domains for detecting diagnostic errors.

Summary: Using data collected at the VEPP-4M e(+)e(-) collider with the KEDR detector, we measured the branching fractions of J/psi meson decays to different final states. The results contradict previous measurements by other groups, but agree well with recent results from BABAR and BESIII collaborations.

Summary: By studying broad classes of models with a U(2)-like flavor symmetry, we have made predictions for CP phases and the absolute neutrino mass scale, resulting in three representative scenarios. The predicted range for the sum of neutrino masses is 60-75 meV, potentially within reach of upcoming galaxy survey experiments. These scenarios may be ruled out if near-future experimental data provide evidence for either neutrinoless double-beta decay or inverted neutrino mass ordering.

Summary: Diagnostic error is a critical healthcare concern that can lead to severe morbidity and mortality. This study found that deficiencies in diagnostic knowledge may contribute to adverse outcomes after visits to primary care physicians. Higher diagnostic knowledge was associated with lower risk of adverse outcomes for patients seeking care for new problems that are at heightened risk for diagnostic errors.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to examine the diagnostic accuracy of the Clinical Frailty Scale in identifying hospitalised adults with frailty and medical diagnosis, as well as its predictive value in determining those at increased risk of subsequent adverse outcomes. The findings of this study will contribute to resource planning and targeted interventions for older adults at risk of adverse outcomes.

Summary: Recently, the authors have obtained exact results for the spin 3/2 model, and have found gapped and gapless quantum spin liquids. They have used an SO(6) Majorana representation of spin 3/2 to find an exact representation of the conserved plaquette fluxes, similar to the S=1/2 case. Their parton mean-field theory description is in quantitative agreement with numerical simulations and is further confirmed by the addition of a [001] single ion anisotropy. In the presence of a weak [111] anisotropy, they discuss an emergent chiral quantum spin liquid within a perturbation theory.

Summary: In this paper, we study the renormalization of the non-Hermitian PT-symmetric scalar field theory with the interaction phi 2(i phi)epsilon using the Wilsonian approach and without any expansion in epsilon. We solve the Wetterich equation in the local potential approximation, both in the ultraviolet regime and with the loop expansion, and calculate the scale-dependent effective potential and its infrared limit. The theory is found to be renormalizable at the one-loop level only for integer values of epsilon, and the one-loop beta functions for the coupling associated with the interaction i phi 3 and -phi 4 are computed. The results show that the -phi 4 theory has asymptotic freedom in four-dimensional spacetime, and some general properties for the Euclidean partition function and n-point functions are also derived.
