Summary: The structure of Cu(II) complex with chelating fluorinated ligands was investigated using CW X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) at temperatures of 298 K and 90 K. The spin-Hamiltonian and structural parameters were determined and compared with X-ray data, showing good similarity. In addition, the catalytic behavior of the Cu(II) complex during H2O2 decomposition in acetonitrile-aqueous solutions at 313 K was qualitatively studied using EPR and UV-visible spectroscopy.

Summary: Enzymes catalyze the chemical reactions of life, and for nearly half of known enzymes, catalysis requires the binding of cofactors. This study identifies heme binding as a potential driver for the formation of ancestral polypeptide-cofactor complexes. Binding of heme to a flexible region in the ancestral structure enhances peroxidation catalysis by protecting the bound heme from degradation processes, resulting in a longer lifetime and higher effective concentration for the catalyst. This finding suggests that the protection of catalytic cofactors by polypeptides is a general mechanism to enhance catalysis and may have benefited primordial polypeptide-cofactor associations.

Summary: Increasing global concern over hazardous pollutants in water bodies due to their toxicity and threat to the environment has led to the need for new or upgraded remediation methods. Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) utilizing highly reactive oxidizing radicals like center dot O and center dot OH have shown efficacy in the mineralization of dye pollutants. Sonolysis, a newer AOP that employs ultrasound irradiation for generating oxidizing radicals, has become a robust hybrid AOP for degrading environmental contaminants. This review focuses on the degradation of dyes through ultrasound-based AOPs and discusses different sono-based methods and their efficacy for wastewater treatment.

Summary: In this study, seven Ti-based catalysts were fabricated and tested for the oxidation of 1,3-butadiene. Ce0.027W0.02Mn0.054TiOx showed exceptional oxidation activity. The catalytic activity was governed by synergistic redox cycles among the components, resulting in sustainable CO2 yield and resistance to water interference.

Summary: This study analyzes reactions using H2O2 as an oxidant and its relevance to sustainable development in the chemical industry. By replacing traditional oxidants, such as chlorine-based agents, H2O2 can improve the environmental sustainability of chemical production processes. In addition, H2O2 is finding more applications in the pulp/paper industry and wastewater treatment. The focus of the research is on the manufacturing trends and emerging applications of H2O2, as well as the opportunities and challenges in bulk and specialty chemical production.

Summary: A novel Ti-W-O-cluster-substituted tungstoantimonate has been synthesized and structurally characterized, featuring a polyoxoanion constructed from three [B-alpha-SbW9O33](9-) units and a previously unobserved decanuclear heterometallic Ti-W-O cluster. Furthermore, the material shows good catalytic activity towards the oxidation reactions of various sulfides and cyclooctene based on the environmentally friendly oxidant H2O2.

Summary: Four new copper complexes were synthesized and characterized by spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. Complexes 1-2 have a monomeric structure, while complex 4 has a polymeric structure due to additional coordinating sites in L2. These complexes exhibit high catalytic activity in the oxidation of alkanes and alcohols with peroxides, especially complex 3.

Summary: A series of transition metal mono-substituted heteropoly compounds and single-absent heteropoly compounds were prepared for highly effective removal of H2S from gas stream. Among them, H7PMo11CoO39 showed outstanding desulfurization capacity with over 90% removal efficiency for 3 hours, and only a slight drop in desulfurization capacity after regeneration. Optimization experiments indicated that H7PMo11CoO39 performed best under low H2S concentration or high dosage conditions at 25°C with pH 5.

Summary: This paper critically reviews the catalytic properties of peroxidase mimicking nanozymes. The main factors affecting nanoparticles activity are discussed and the catalytic properties are normalized for comparison. Nitrogen-coordinated iron atoms have the highest catalytic activities in hydrogen peroxide reduction. However, metal/metal oxide and 'single atom' nanozymes have additional activities that impair their application abilities. Nanoparticles synthesized from Prussian Blue display enzymatic selectivity in addition to high catalytic activity.
