Summary: This study examines the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Lebanon, highlighting the challenges faced in addressing the increasing burden of NCDs in the country. The findings reveal the need for improvement in the quality of NCDs care, particularly in areas such as referral to ophthalmology, access to prescribed medication, and counseling for smoking cessation. The study also identifies factors associated with comparatively poor quality of care, including Syrian nationality, lack of health insurance, seeking free healthcare, and lower educational attainment.

Summary: The study found that behavioral responses by chinstrap penguins, Antarctic fur seals, and leopard seals to UAS flights at 30 m were not significantly different from control periods, compared with traditional ground surveys. Behavioral responses generally increased as UAS flew lower, and for penguins, those increases intensified as the breeding season progressed (i.e., guard and molt stages).

Summary: This study reveals a narrow depiction of pain in children's popular media, focusing mainly on violent pain and injuries while neglecting everyday, chronic, and procedural pains. Boys are more commonly depicted experiencing pain, but observers show more concern towards girls' pain. Observers often witness pain instances without responding, and show a lack of empathy towards sufferers.

Summary: This study investigated the occurrence of non-AIDS associated comorbid conditions among HIV patients on cART in Lebanon. The results showed a high prevalence of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease in the study participants. Older age and longer duration of cART treatment were associated with a higher risk of hyperlipidemia. The findings provide important information for improving the management of non-communicable diseases among PLHIV.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to explore Saudi Arabian traditional architecture by examining its relationship with Islamic principles and how these principles have influenced the built space in various Saudi regions. Despite differences in style, the study finds that similar generative principles have influenced most Saudi regions. The study suggests that contemporary architects should incorporate some of these principles to balance originality and enhance local identity in modernization efforts.

Summary: Energy infrastructures are influenced by technical, regulatory, institutional, and sociocultural factors. The uptake of solar energy in Portugal reflects local specificities and tendency to favor large companies over community operators. Future solar energy transitions should prioritize understanding and addressing local community concerns in a cross-sectoral approach.

Summary: Bruce Herzog provides an important exploration of the psychological burden placed on a child when a parent refuses to let go. The pain of separation is highlighted as the child navigates the process of differentiation while losing connection to an overly demanding parent. This commentary emphasizes the role of traumatic stress and sociocultural context in shaping parent-child attachments and separation-individuation, suggesting that the ability to separate while maintaining a loving connection is influenced by specific conditions rooted in sociocultural context.

Summary: We are currently in an era of population aging, where public health problems related to aging are becoming more serious. It is crucial to promote active aging and enhance health literacy, which involves addressing education needs and providing solutions for issues associated with aging. The development of Older Adult Education (OAE) is an important step towards implementing active aging strategies, with curriculum construction playing a fundamental role. Overcoming limitations in OAE, increasing system integration, and improving the curriculum system are essential for achieving active and healthy aging.

Summary: The meta-analysis found that higher maternal education is associated with a moderate but statistically significant decrease in the risk of delivering a low birth weight infant in low- and middle-income countries. Despite high heterogeneity in some studies and biases in some research, the overall quality of evidence is moderate, indicating that improving girls' and women's access to education can improve birth outcomes and reduce low birth weight in LMICs.
