Summary: This paper discusses a case study on the enhanced geothermal system (EGS), which involves a hydraulic stimulation at Patuha geothermal field, West Java, Indonesia. The water injection conducted in three phases effectively raised the bottom hole pressure and positively influenced formation. The research showed that the hydraulic stimulation increased steam production up to 11.4% in nearby production wells.

Summary: This study investigates the origin of geothermal water in the Yangbajing geothermal field, as well as the sources of CO2 and He in the field. The research identifies three different reservoirs with varying temperatures and determines that the geological conditions of the Yangbajing geothermal field are not conducive for supercritical fluids, unlike other geothermal fields worldwide. These findings are significant for exploring and developing high-temperature geothermal resources in China.

Summary: This study reveals the prevalent geochemical processes during hydraulic fracturing through field fracturing and laboratory experiments. The results show that hydraulic fracturing flowback fluid is a complex mixture, influenced by water-rock and fluid-fluid interactions. Pyrite oxidation process occurs during hydraulic fracturing, and the addition of gel breaker enhances this process. Ion exchange and adsorption/desorption are critical factors affecting the stability of clay minerals. The analysis of formation water needs to be considered.

Summary: This article discusses the technical feasibility of low-temperature geothermal energy extraction in hydrocarbon fields, emphasizing the importance of economic, technical, and geological parameters. It also highlights the uncertainty of resource behavior and the lack of discussion on sustainable resource management in such fields. Reservoir and wellbore simulations are suggested to improve understanding of resource behavior and evaluate reservoir capability for longer sustainability.

Summary: The research indicates a serious fluoride contamination issue in Odisha, India, which may lead to fluoride poisoning among residents. Many groundwater samples showed excessive fluoride levels, suggesting hydrogeochemistry controlled by lithology, and fluoride contamination mainly originates from the dissolution of fluoride-bearing minerals in rocks and other complex processes. Additionally, the study suggests utilizing membrane defluoridation method and other measures to mitigate fluoride contamination.

Summary: The Ranwu and Rekeng geothermal fields in Sichuan Province are non-magmatic convective geothermal systems. Ranwu is a mid-low temperature system while Rekeng is high-temperature. The study confirms Ranwu as a mid-low temperature convective system without magma degassing effects, and discourages using Na-K geothermometer due to difficulties in achieving Na-K equilibrium at such temperatures.

Summary: This study systematically reports the large-scale helium enrichment along the continental convergent margin for the first time. It identifies a 1200-km-long helium enrichment zone and demonstrates the complex crustal-scale structures significantly controlling gas geochemistry in the convergent margin. These findings have profound implications for potential helium resource exploration and He-CO2-N-2 recycling in continental subduction zones.

Summary: This study investigates the potential of CO2 storage and CO2 heat mining in the high-temperature Arun gas condensate reservoir in Indonesia through field scale reservoir simulations and production history matching. The results show that CO2 injection into the depleted Arun reservoir can generate significant amounts of condensate and geothermal energy, and the reservoirs have enough capacity to store a substantial amount of CO2 emissions.

Summary: This study reconstructed the formation process of AHPZs by analyzing geochemical characteristics and fluid inclusions, and found that there are three sections of AHPZs at different burial depths that are favorable for high-quality reservoirs. It also revealed the close relationship between AHPZs and multiple actions of various diagenetic fluids.

Summary: The chemical and isotopic composition of thermal and cold waters in Okayama Prefecture were investigated to examine the geochemical characteristics of geothermal resources in a non-volcanic region. The study found no significant geochemical difference between thermal and cold waters, with most waters considered to be of meteoric origin. These waters were formed by infiltration of meteoric water into granite layers and subsequent reaction with carbonate and clay minerals, with estimated maximum underground temperatures of around 100 degrees C. Despite potential calcium carbonate scale precipitation, the utilization of these geothermal resources for geothermal heat pumps was deemed effective.

Summary: Knowledge about subsurface geological characteristics and a geothermic genetic model is crucial for geothermal exploration and resource assessment. The study area in Shunping was analyzed using geophysical, geochemical, and geological methods to understand the geothermal geological conditions. It was found that the area has favorable conditions for heat source, water source, migration channel, and reservoir; however, the effectiveness of the cap rock and tectonic activity affect the preservation of underground heat energy. Nevertheless, the geothermal resources in the Shunping area can still provide clean energy support for local production and life.

Summary: The problem of hazardous chemicals, particularly boron, in geothermal fluid is a critical environmental concern. Poor management and inadequate treatment of geothermal fluids can lead to excessive release of boron, which has toxic effects on plants, humans, and animals. This paper provides a comprehensive review on the sources, toxicity, and management strategies of boron in geothermal fluid, highlighting the need for further research and development of cost-effective and environmentally friendly treatment technologies.

Summary: The utilization of low-temperature geothermal waters has become increasingly significant in China as an alternative energy source to fossil fuels, particularly for space heating and other direct uses. The Shandong Peninsula has several geothermal areas with low temperatures, characterized by surface temperatures ranging from 28 to 89 degrees C, pH values between 6.8 and 8.5, and total dissolved solid contents between 150 and 10,000 mg/L. The geothermal waters in this region have a meteoric origin with occasional minor seawater mixing and/or mineral salt leaching, followed by modification through water-rock interactions and mixing with non-thermal groundwaters.

Summary: This research aims to understand the magmatic evolution of Lasem and Senjong Volcanic Complex (LSVC), located in Central Java. The analysis shows the distribution of volcanic units and lava flows in both Lasem and Senjong volcanoes. The rocks in LSVC are composed of various minerals and exhibit calc-alkaline composition. The magma of LSVC can be classified into High K/Rb and Low K/Rb types.
