Summary: Junin virus, the cause of Argentine hemorrhagic fever, can be attenuated through specific mutations in the glycoprotein precursor gene. Early mutations attenuate the visceral disease and enhance immunogenicity in guinea pigs, while a specific mutation within an N-linked glycosylation motif is necessary for complete attenuation and enhanced immunogenicity of the Candid#1 vaccine strain.

Summary: The study developed a fully automated micromagnetic particle chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) platform for quality control of human rabies vaccine, which showed high sensitivity, accuracy, and a wide linear range of detection. Compared to traditional methods, the CLIA platform demonstrated better analytical performance.

Summary: Rabies virus is widely distributed and vaccination is an important preventive measure. This study conducted a genomic analysis of a chicken embryo cell culture vaccine strain and confirmed its genetic characteristics. The evaluated efficacy of the vaccine suggests it is suitable for preventing the current rabies virus.

Summary: A key aspect of successful viral vaccine design is the elicitation of neutralizing antibodies targeting viral attachment and fusion glycoproteins. Glycosylation can influence the antigenicity and immunogenicity of vaccines, with native-like glycosylation potentially enhancing immunogenicity. Understanding viral glycosylation can guide the development of future vaccines in various enveloped viruses.

Summary: This study successfully constructed novel VLVs that could efficiently self-propagate and evolve to high titers, with minimal side effects, demonstrating good immune protection in mice. The evolved VLVs showed significant potential as a cost-effective, safe, and efficacious rabies vaccine candidate.

Summary: The study compared several vaccines for Japanese encephalitis and found that the SA14-14-2 vaccine showed favorable characteristics in genetic diversity, ribavirin sensitivity, mouse virulence, and immunogenicity. In contrast, the other two vaccine candidates, SA14-5-3 and SA14-2-8, exhibited some shortcomings.

Summary: ABMA and DABMA, members of the adamantane family, have been shown to inhibit cell infection of the Rabies Virus in vitro by perturbing the endosomal pathway. They act at different stages of the late endosomal pathway and exhibit different profiles of synergy/antagonism with other antiviral drugs. These results suggest new therapeutic perspectives against rabies.

Summary: In this study, a chimeric VLP-based vaccine candidate for foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) was developed by co-expressing HIV-1 Gag protein and a fusion rabies glycoprotein (RVG). The vaccine was shown to induce a specific humoral immune response, displaying potential immunoprotective effects in experimental animals. This novel vaccine approach holds promise for controlling the economic losses caused by FMD in affected areas.
