Endovascular repair has emerged as a potential alternative to emergency open surgical repair for type A dissection in selected patients, with isolated reports describing the results obtained with a range of devices designed originally for the descending aorta. We believe that we present the first reported repair of an acute ascending aortic dissection using an endovascular stent graft manufactured specifically for the ascending aorta. Early and long-term outcomes of conventional and valve-sparing aortic root replacement

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the early and long-term outcomes of conventional aortic root replacement and valve-sparing root replacement surgery. The results showed that both surgeries had low mortality and morbidity rates, as well as a low rate of reintervention during long-term follow-up, when performed by an experienced team using a consistent perioperative approach.

Outcome of endovascular treatment of internal iliac artery aneurysms: a single center retrospective review

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility and outcomes of endovascular treatment for internal iliac artery aneurysms. The results showed that the treatment effectively prevented sac expansion, but had a higher rate of endoleak and enlargement. Endoleak was associated with technical failure and embolization of distal IIA branches.

Summary: This study investigated the current use of drug-eluting devices for PAD among interventional radiologists. The majority of respondents still believe in the safety of these devices for use in femoropopliteal disease, despite the controversy caused by the 2018 meta-analysis.

Weeping sponge kidney: an unusual phenomenon that should be considered in cases of severe renal haemorrhage

B. Hawthorn, B. Kawa, T. Cavenagh, S. Katsari, R. Lohan, M. Gonsalves, U. Patel, R. Morgan

Summary: This study describes the clinical presentation, imaging evaluation, endovascular management, and outcomes of multifocal renal capsular haemorrhage, weeping sponge kidney. It also identifies the associated risk factors and the pathophysiological mechanism behind this condition. The study concludes that chronic renal failure and renal atrophy are associated with multifocal renal capsular haemorrhage, and preservation of renal function plays a crucial role in the endovascular treatment.

Clinical experience with a shape memory polymer peripheral vascular embolisation plug: a case series

Robert A. Morgan, Ian Loftus, Lakshmi Ratnam, Raj Das, Leto Mailli, Mohamad S. Hamady, Kyriakos Lobotesis

Summary: This case series describes the use of a novel sponge-based embolic device for embolisation of small and medium sized arteries in eight cases. The procedures were technically successful with sustained vessel occlusion observed in follow-up imaging. The series highlights the safety and efficacy of using shape memory polymer devices for peripheral vasculature embolisation.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed endovascular embolisation of 46 VAPAs, showing high overall clinical and technical success rates, low periprocedural complication rates, and maintained high procedure effectiveness during follow-up.

Summary: The study assessed the utility of indexed aortic area (IAA) in identifying high-risk BAV-associated thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAAs), finding that aneurysms with abnormal IAA, despite not meeting the surgical criteria for aortic diameter, are at significantly increased risk of aortic dissection.
