Summary: The objective of this study was to compare the risk of acute kidney injury in elderly and nonelderly patients undergoing AngioJet rheolytic thrombectomy for the treatment of acute deep vein thrombosis. A retrospective review of patient data was conducted and it was found that the overall rate of acute kidney injury was 11.4%, with similar rates between the elderly and nonelderly groups. However, the elderly group had a longer recovery time for acute kidney injury, indicating a need for postoperative vigilance in this population.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the outcomes of treatment strategies for proximal and iliofemoral DVT. The results suggest that USCDT may improve patency rates for proximal DVT. However, no treatment modality showed superiority in reducing PTS and the overall quality of available evidence is poor.

Summary: This meta-analysis examines the effectiveness of lytic catheter-based interventions (LCBI) in preventing post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) in patients with acute proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The results suggest that LCBI reduces the risk of PTS but increases the risk of major bleeding. The study concludes that LCBI can be considered in selected patients, taking into account the risk of bleeding.

Summary: In this study, targeted microbubble contrast agent combined with low-power focused ultrasound successfully alleviated the inflammatory reactions in acute deep vein thrombosis and significantly promoted thrombolysis, providing new ideas and methods for the diagnosis and treatment of this condition.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to analyze predictive factors for long-term clinical outcomes after catheter-directed thrombolysis combined with stent implantation for acute deep vein thrombosis secondary to iliac vein compression. The results showed that CDT combined with stent implantation is safe and effective for acute DVT secondary to IVC in the long-term perspective. Key prognostic factors for PTS were found to be degree of iliac vein stenosis and time from onset to treatment.

Summary: This study aimed to report the outcomes of PEVI for acute proximal DVT secondary to IVCS without IVCF placement. A total of 62 patients underwent PEVI without IVCF, achieving complete technical success and clinical improvement in all subjects with good primary and secondary patency rates at various time points up to 60 months.

Summary: IDDVT patients were more likely associated with recent surgery, major trauma, or confinement, while PDVT patients were more likely unprovoked, had a prior history of VTE, or active cancer. During follow-up, there was no significant difference in VTE recurrence or major bleeding between groups, but IDDVT patients had a higher mortality rate, which was positively impacted by DOAC therapy that also led to lower rates of VTE recurrence, major bleeding, and death in both groups.

Summary: This study established and validated a nomogram for predicting the risk of early IDDVT in AIS patients, based on independent risk factors including age, gender, lower limb paralysis, current pneumonia, atrial fibrillation, and malignant tumor. The nomogram showed high predictive accuracy in both training and validation cohorts, with AUROC values of 0.767 and 0.820 respectively.

Summary: This study assessed the prevalence and incidence proportion of proximal DVT in Thai medical critical care patients without thrombosis prophylaxis. The results showed that the prevalence and incidence proportion of proximal DVT were both substantial in Asian patients. Older age, female gender, an intravenous femoral catheter, and the absence of platelet transfusion were associated with a higher chance of developing proximal DVT.

Summary: Lower extremity deep vein thrombosis is a serious medical condition with potential fatal consequences if left untreated. Early thrombus removal can provide symptom relief and prevent disease progression. Endovascular treatment has been established as a major therapeutic method, but treatment plans should be adjusted based on individual patient factors.

Summary: Isolated distal deep vein thrombosis (IDDVT) is considered to be less severe than proximal DVT or pulmonary embolism, with younger patients and fewer risk factors. Although differences in patient characteristics and clinical management were identified, anticoagulant treatment of IDDVT was found to be similar to that of proximal DVT or PE.

Summary: Acute iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can be treated with thrombolysis and deep venous stenting to restore blood flow and reduce the risk of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). Some patients may require further intervention for subsequent stenosis or reocclusion. This study identified risk factors for reintervention, examined outcomes, and developed a classification system. Anticoagulation compliance, thrombus burden, and poor flow were found to be important risk factors for reintervention. Reintervention increased the risk of PTS and was more successful when performed before vessel occlusion.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of therapeutic or prophylactic anticoagulation with rivaroxaban in patients with first acute symptomatic isolated distal deep vein thrombosis (IDDVT). The study design is a prospective, multicentre, single-blind, randomised controlled trial. The primary efficacy outcome is radiographically confirmed recurrent venous thromboembolism, and the primary safety outcome is the incidence of major or clinically relevant non-major bleeding events.

Summary: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common cardiovascular disease that can be treated with anticoagulation or revascularization. Anomalous development of the inferior vena cava (IVC) is a rare cause of VTE and can pose challenges for endovascular revascularization.

Summary: Balloon angioplasty is the preferred treatment for peripheral artery disease, but it may lead to complications in cases of diffuse disease and plaque complexity. Vessel preparation is essential for successful and durable endovascular revascularization. This review focuses on specialty balloons designed to minimize arterial wall stress and improve long-term patency.

Summary: Remote superficial femoral artery endarterectomy (RSFAE) is a minimally invasive hybrid procedure with acceptable perioperative morbidity, low mortality, and acceptable patency rates for long femoropopliteal TransAtlantic InterSociety Consensus C/D lesions. It should be considered as an alternative to open surgery or a bridge to bypass.
