Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with infiltrative hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and found that HAIC significantly improved overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR) compared to TACE. A nomogram model including various factors showed good predictive accuracy and outperformed other staging systems and conventional indices.

Summary: Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) is the recommended treatment for intermediate stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to determine the radiological characteristics associated with prognosis in patients with intermediate stage HCC receiving TACE. The results showed that complete lipiodol retention, tumor feeding artery blockage, and no residual tumor blush were significant factors correlated with achieving objective response (OR) in TACE. Patients with OR had better overall survival than those without.

Summary: Transcatheter arterial ionic-embolization (TAIE) is a promising approach that disrupts intracellular ionic balance to inhibit tumor activity and invasion in treating hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The super-stable homogeneous embolic formulation lipiodol-sodium chloride (LSC) selectively deposits in HCC lesions and disrupts the cell's ionic balance, causing cell death without drug resistance. LSC treatment significantly hinders tumor cell migration and invasion by inducing cell swelling and remodeling the cytoskeleton.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of conversion therapy with portal vein embolization (PVE) and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with large unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and ipsilateral portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT). The results showed that PVE + TACE treatment prolonged overall survival and conferred more favorable outcomes compared to treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) + TACE.

Summary: This study compared the local recurrence-free (LRF) periods of hepatocellular carcinoma nodules with complete necrosis obtained using three different treatment methods: balloon-occluded TACE (B-TACE), conventional TACE (C-TACE), and drug-eluting bead TACE (DEB-TACE). The study found that B-TACE had a significantly longer LRF period compared to C-TACE and DEB-TACE, suggesting B-TACE should be used for radical cure in patients with HCC.

Summary: Conventional TACE formulations suffer from inadequate drug concentrations in HCC due to rapid dissociation of the emulsion. To address this, researchers developed biodegradable microspheres called BILMs loaded with IDA-MS. TACE with IDA-MS demonstrated significant tumor shrinkage and fewer adverse events compared to the IDA group. Additionally, TACE with IDA-MS enhanced the sensitivity of anti-PD1 immunotherapy, improved CD8+ T cell expression, and activated the tumor immune microenvironment in HCC. This study introduces a new approach for TACE therapy and immunotherapy, highlighting the future of HCC treatment.

Summary: The study evaluated the role of TACE plus apatinib (TACE + A) and TACE combined with apatinib plus camrelizumab (TACE + AC) in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The results showed that the TACE + AC group had better overall survival, progression-free survival, objective response rate, and disease control rate compared to the TACE + A group.

Summary: The aim of this study was to determine the local recurrence rate in HCC patients who achieved a radiological complete response after B-TACE and identify factors associated with recurrence. The study found that subsegmental B-TACE had a high initial complete response rate and low recurrence rate. Oily subsegmentectomy can be considered as an index of successful treatment. Age and tumor location were independent predictive factors for recurrence.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major global health concern with high incidence and mortality rates. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) is commonly used for the treatment of unresectable HCC, but its therapeutic effect is often limited. Recent research has focused on using nanomaterials as a drug delivery platform to improve the distribution and bioavailability of drugs in tumor tissues. Functionalized nanomaterials have been developed for targeted embolization, controlled drug release, and real-time imaging, aiming to enhance the therapeutic effect of TACE against HCC.

Summary: The study found that lobaplatin-TACE has a higher safety and efficacy in treating primary hepatocellular carcinoma. Compared with the epirubicin-TACE group, the lobaplatin-TACE group had higher tumor response rate and survival rates. There was no statistical difference in liver function and blood routine changes after TACE between the two groups, but the platelet decrease was more significant in the lobaplatin-TACE group.

Summary: This study investigated the risk factors for distal stent graft-induced new entry (dSINE) in patients with uncomplicated type B aortic dissection (TBAD) who underwent thoracic endovascular aortic repair. It was found that a type III aortic arch, decreased angle, increased distal oversizing, and increased distal mismatch ratio were significant risk factors for dSINE. The use of a tapered stent graft with a >4-mm taper could prevent dSINE, and aggressive reintervention for dSINE led to favorable long-term outcomes.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 48 consecutive patients with pyogenic liver abscess (PLA), comparing the clinical outcomes and prognosis evaluation in non-liver cancer (Non-LC) and liver cancer (LC-TACE) patients treated with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). The results showed a higher mortality rate and longer cure time in the LC-TACE group compared to the Non-LC group. The pathogen culture results and other factors also differed between the two groups, suggesting the need for a more comprehensive treatment approach after TACE.

Summary: The optimal viral titer of OH2 was determined to be 1 x 10(7) CCID50. Transarterial viroembolization (TAVE) showed better therapeutic efficacy compared to other administration routes. The TAVE treatment improved locoregional tumor response, standby effect, survival benefit, and antitumor immune memory in immune-excluded liver cancer. TAVE is considered as a safe and effective modality for clinical practice.
