Summary: In this research, a novel single-shot based object detector, RefineDet++, is proposed to combine the advantages of both two-stage and one-stage approaches. The method consists of two inter-connected modules: anchor refinement module and alignment detection module, which work together to improve the accuracy and efficiency of object detection. Extensive experiments on PASCAL VOC and MS COCO dataset show that RefineDet++ achieves state-of-the-art detection accuracy with high efficiency.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether the original IVC regimen should be continued or restarted after the second TURBT. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 137 patients who underwent a second TURBT. The results showed that there was a significant difference in recurrence-free survival between patients in the two IVC regimens. For patients without residual tumor, continuing the previous treatment regimen without restarting IVC induction phase is recommended, while for patients with residual tumor, restarting the IVC induction phase should be emphasized to improve prognosis.

Summary: PolarMask is an anchor-box free and single-shot instance segmentation framework that reformulates the instance segmentation problem by predicting object contours in polar coordinates. It unifies instance segmentation and object detection into a single framework, making it more efficient in training and performance.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of intravesical bacteriophage therapy in treating UTIs. Findings showed that bacteriophage therapy was non-inferior to standard antibiotic treatment, but not superior to placebo bladder irrigation in terms of efficacy or safety. The safety profile of bacteriophages appears to be favorable, suggesting potential for further large-scale clinical studies on their role in UTI treatment.

Summary: The study evaluated the safety and activity of enasidenib plus azacitidine in patients with newly diagnosed, mutant-IDH2 acute myeloid leukaemia, showing that the combination therapy significantly improved overall response rates compared to azacitidine monotherapy, which may lead to improved outcomes for these patients.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of two immunosuppression therapies for acquired hemophilia A through a multicenter randomized controlled trial. The results showed that the single-dose rituximab combination regimen was noninferior to the cyclophosphamide combination regimen in terms of complete remission rate. Additionally, no significant difference in the incidence of treatment-related adverse events was found between the two regimens. Based on these findings, the single-dose rituximab combination regimen may be recommended as a first-line therapy for acquired hemophilia A, especially in China where there is a young age trend among patients.

Summary: This case report highlights a rare complication of bladder perforation following intravesical doxorubicin instillation after bladder tumor resection. Conservative management was unsuccessful, leading to the need for open surgical repair. It emphasizes the importance of a high index of suspicion, timely management, and consideration of more invasive treatments when necessary to preserve bladder function.

Summary: The study found that blue-light cystoscopy during TURBT with concomitant SIIC can improve recurrence outcomes in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. The use of photodynamic diagnosis (PDD) can reduce the 12-month recurrence rate, and SIIC further decreases the risk.

Summary: Repeat BCG induction is still an option for some select non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients who fail initial therapy. Alternative salvage intravesical regimens such as Gemcitabine and Docetaxel (Gem/Doce) have been investigated. The study aimed to compare the efficacy of BCG plus interferon a-2b (BCG/IFN) and Gem/Doce in patients with recurrent NMIBC after a single prior BCG course, showing similar oncologic outcomes for both treatment options.

Summary: This study investigates the use of BCG and PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in combination with cisplatin-based chemotherapy for muscle invasive bladder cancer. It is an open-label single-arm phase II trial for resectable MIBC patients. The aim is to achieve higher intravesical responses and better disease control through a new immuno-immuno-chemotherapy induction therapy.

Summary: This multi-center randomized study aims to compare the efficacy of continuous paravertebral block (PVB), single-shot intercostal nerve block (ICNB), and thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA) in pain management and recovery quality in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for lung resection. The results of this trial will have an impact on international guidelines for perioperative care after VATS and may help determine the most cost-effective pain management strategy.
