Summary: The study demonstrated that in Asian patients with localized RCC undergoing nephrectomy, males with higher BMI had longer cancer-specific survival rates compared to those with lower BMI, while no significant difference was observed in females.

Summary: Adding adjuvant pembrolizumab after nephrectomy can significantly improve disease-free survival in patients with renal-cell carcinoma, but there are concerns regarding the arbitrary duration of 12 months of adjuvant treatment. Many patients discontinued treatment due to adverse events.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed advanced RCC patients receiving cabozantinib treatment, showing that a BMI >= 25 is associated with longer survival. BMI could serve as a significant predictor for prognosis in advanced RCC patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic impact of body mass index (BMI) on signet ring cell gastric carcinoma (SRC) patients. The results showed that as BMI decreases, SRC has a worse prognostic impact. Different BMI levels can lead to differing prognosis of SRC compared with tubular adenocarcinoma.

Summary: Higher visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and total adipose tissue (TAT) are associated with lower tumor stage in renal cell cancer (RCC), possibly due to weight loss or cancer cachexia.

Summary: Preoperative sarcopenia is significantly associated with neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). A novel nomogram has been developed to predict overall survival (OS) and provide personalized therapeutics for RCC patients. The nomogram shows good discrimination and calibration, and performs better than other methods in prognostic prediction.

Summary: The prognostic value of body mass index (BMI) in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) was investigated in this study when stratified by alcohol drinking status. The results showed that BMI was only a prognostic factor in patients who had ever drank alcohol, but not in those who had never drank alcohol. Further research is needed to understand the mechanism underlying the interaction between BMI and alcohol consumption on the prognosis of ESCC patients.

Summary: The study retrospectively analyzed therapeutic strategies and risk factors for overall survival in recurrent localized renal cell carcinoma patients after curative nephrectomy. It found that the surgery-treated group had the best overall survival among different therapeutic strategies, and emphasized the importance of the time from nephrectomy to secondary treatment as a significant prognostic factor.

Summary: This study revealed that T stage and N stage were independent risk factors for Delta BMI; the Delta BMI < 0 group had worse overall survival compared to the stable body mass index group; Delta BMI had the greatest prognostic impact in stage I tumors; decreasing Delta BMI correlated with worse prognosis.

Summary: Preoperative sarcopenia in patients with organ-confined renal cell carcinoma undergoing radical nephrectomy is associated with poorer overall and cancer-specific survival rates, making it an independent risk factor for all-cause and cancer-specific mortality.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients who underwent radical nephrectomy (RN). The results showed that age, preoperative eGFR of the contralateral kidney, and immediate postoperative eGFR were independent risk factors for postoperative CKD.

Summary: This study found that overweight NPC patients at diagnosis had a 25% lower all-cause mortality and NPC-specific mortality compared to normal-weight patients. Lean body shapes 1 and 2 at diagnosis were associated with a 68% and 23% higher all-cause mortality, respectively, compared to normal body shape 3. Associations with BMI and body shape 10 years before diagnosis were similar but attenuated, while body size and shape at age 20 were not associated with mortality.

Summary: The study revealed that low muscle mass and markers of inflammation were associated with an increased risk of recurrence and death in patients with localized RCC after surgery.
