Summary: This study found variability in follicle number per ovary assessments across different ultrasonographic methods, with 2D-RT potentially misclassifying PCOM, while 2D-RT with Grid and MPV-RT could be clinically feasible alternatives for obtaining FNPO and classifying PCOM. Efforts to reduce variation in FNPO will clarify the relevance of PCOM in women's health.

Summary: The study successfully constructed 3-dimensional ovarian follicles using a microfluidic system, mimicking the necessary environment for early oocyte development. Somatic cell viability tests and hormonal assessments confirmed the cells' viability and endocrine function. The novel system can be easily adapted for sterile, high throughput applications.

Summary: The study found that there is an important relationship between unilateral main number of antral follicle populations (mAFC) and ovarian response in mono-ovulatory Bos indicus beef cows. This relationship can serve as a potential biomarker for predicting the success of ovarian response to hormonal stimulation.

Summary: This review assesses the effectiveness of various therapies in recovering ovarian function in patients with primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) and explores a comprehensive evaluation method. The results indicate a lack of scientific evidence supporting any therapy in effectively restoring ovarian function in patients with POI.

Summary: The follicle is the functional unit of the ovary and its development depends on various factors, including the Hippo pathway. This pathway plays a crucial role in regulating cell proliferation and organ size during embryonic development. Recent studies have shown that ovarian fragmentation can activate follicles by disrupting the Hippo pathway and promoting follicle development. This article focuses on the development and atresia of follicles and explores the physiological effects of the Hippo pathway in follicle activation.

Summary: This study identifies SF-1 as a key regulator of the formation of the ovarian reserve, with its depletion leading to smaller ovaries and reduced primordial follicles. The study also identifies the dysregulated pathways and genes involved in follicle formation.

Summary: In this experiment, mouse secondary follicles were cultured in a three-dimensional culture system with different concentrations of IGF-1. The optimal concentration of IGF-1 was determined to be 10 ng/mL based on follicle growth, oocyte maturation, hormone levels, and gene expressions. Moreover, the injection of IGF-1 before superovulation increased the number of ovulated oocytes.

Summary: This study found accelerated ovarian aging in women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its correlation with disturbed lipid profile. It highlights the importance of carefully managing accelerated ovarian aging and its adverse impacts in T2DM, especially with the increasing number of young female patients diagnosed with T2DM.

Summary: The mechanism(s) controlling whether individual human primordial ovarian follicles remain dormant or begin to grow are largely unknown. However, recent research suggests that activating the Integrated Stress Response (ISR) pathway can slow the proliferation of follicular granulosa cells and delay follicle growth. It is proposed that the resolution of rare ISR checkpoints allows individual follicles to initiate growth. A one-dimensional random walk model is used to simulate ISR activity in individual follicles and monitor the rate at which checkpoint resolution and follicle growth activation occur. The model successfully reproduces the loss of follicles over time and the timing of follicle depletion seen in natural menopause.

Summary: The study found that infertility caused by ZP3 vaccination is associated with ovarian oxidative stress and follicle loss. Antioxidant stress drugs can reduce oxidative stress and apoptosis levels, restore follicle numbers, and improve fertility.

Summary: Invertebrates lack the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, but the marine invertebrate Ciona uses a specific regulatory system involving ovarian peptides for follicle development. A novel Ciona-specific peptide, PEP51, was identified in the ovary. This study explores the role of PEP51 in cell metabolism and apoptotic signaling during follicle development in Ciona.
