Summary: This study compared the differences between CT-TTB and Cryo-Radial biopsy in the diagnosis of lung nodules, and found that Cryo-Radial has comparable diagnostic yield and ability to perform EGFR testing with a significantly lower risk of pneumothorax compared to CT-TTB.

Summary: Endobronchial ultrasonography with a guide sheath (EBUS-GS) improves the accuracy of bronchoscopy, and a convolutional neural network (CNN) model can predict benign or malignant lesions based on EBUS findings. This study found that the CNN model had higher accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity in distinguishing benign and malignant lesions compared to four bronchoscopists.

Summary: CT-guided needle biopsy is effective for diagnosing lung cancer, especially recommended when the bronchus sign is negative, with a higher diagnostic rate after failed diagnosis with other modalities. Though CT-GNB has a higher complication rate, complications can be lower in certain cases if risk factors are taken into account.

Summary: The study analyzed the diagnostic yield of stereotactic biopsies, predictors for non-diagnostic biopsies, and follow-up strategies. The overall diagnostic yield of stereotactic biopsies for brain lesions was 86.2%, with significant differences between different suspected diagnoses. Predictors for non-diagnostic biopsies included lesion size, contrast enhancement, presence of sepsis, or hematological diseases.

Summary: This study investigated the value of combining endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and virtual bronchoscopic navigation (VBN) with rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) in diagnosing peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs). The results showed that using ROSE could significantly improve the positive rate of diagnosis, shorten diagnosis time, and reduce expenses. Additionally, ROSE had a significant impact on the diagnosis of lesions in the right upper lobe and with a diameter of 2 cm or less.

Summary: Endosonography, a minimally invasive imaging technique, has revolutionized the diagnosis and management of pancreatic diseases. This review highlights the latest advancements in endosonography of the pancreas, including key technological developments, procedural techniques, clinical applications and additional techniques. EUS is well established for T-staging and N-staging of pancreaticobiliary malignancies, for pancreatic cyst discovery, for identifying subepithelial lesions (SEL), for differentiation of benign pancreaticobiliary disorders or for acquisition of tissue by EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration or EUS-guided fine-needle biopsy. This review briefly describes principles and application of EUS and its related techniques.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in patients with indeterminate small choroidal melanocytic lesions (SCMLs). Blood samples were analyzed for CTCs and tissue biopsy was performed in CTC-positive patients. The study found that the presence of CTCs was associated with certain clinical characteristics and could be used as a potential tool for screening SCMLs for malignancy.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of intraoperative validation of samples with fluorescein sodium and found that it can achieve a higher diagnostic yield compared to standard stereotactic biopsy. The surgical time and rate of complications were similar between the two methods. The results strengthen the limited data in the literature indicating the routine use of fluorescein sodium-assisted stereotactic biopsy.

Summary: The detailed endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS) findings can affect the diagnostic yield of lung cancer in transbronchial biopsy using endobronchial ultrasonography with a guide sheath (EBUS-GS-TBB). The adjacent angle plays a significant role in the diagnostic yield of adjacent lesions.

Summary: The combination of virtual bronchoscopy navigation (VBN) and EBUS-TBLB can improve the diagnostic yield of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) without X-ray guidance and reduce the operation time. It is a safe and effective technique for diagnosing PPLs.

Summary: This study showed that age, gender, and biopsy methods had no impact on the diagnostic yield of stereotactic brain biopsy. However, the anatomical location of the lesion, volume of the lesion, and experience of the surgeon significantly affected the diagnostic yield.

Summary: This study compared the diagnostic yields of small peripheral pulmonary lesions between rEBUS-TBB with and without a background guide sheath (GS). The results showed that the diagnostic yield of histological specimens from the GS group was significantly higher than that from the non-GS group. Interactions were observed between the diagnostic yields, procedures, lobar locations, and lesion texture.

Summary: This study assessed the diagnostic yield (DY) and safety of combining EBUS-guided 1.5 mm mini-forceps biopsy with EBUS-TBNA for the diagnosis of mediastinal/hilar lymphadenopathy (LAD) or masses. The combined approach showed a higher DY for lung cancer and sarcoidosis diagnosis, but no significant differences in DY were found for smaller sample size subgroups such as lymphoma. Using a 1.5 mm mini-forceps for biopsy is a safe and feasible technique with superior overall DY compared to EBUS-TBNA alone.
