The efficiency of a potentially low-cost Luffa cylindrica as sorbent in removing cationic surfactant (CS) by adsorption process was evaluated in this study. 1-Cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) was used as a representative member of CS. Effect of process variables such as initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, solution pH, and adsorption temperature had been studied. The sorption data were analyzed by using Langmuir, Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich equations. The results indicate that the Langmuir model provides the best correlation of experimental data. Sorption kinetic was also evaluated by pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich rate equations and intraparticle diffusion models. It was inferred that sorption follows pseudo-second-order kinetic model better. Activation energy value of 34.09 kJ/mol is in the range of 5-40 kJ/mol, indicating physical sorption. FTIR was also conducted to confirm the sorption of 1-cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB) onto L. cylindrica. (C) 2012 Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers. Published by Elsevier B.V. Deep feature representation with online convolutional adversarial autoencoder for nonlinear process monitoring

Xu Yang, Jieshi Xiao, Jian Huang, Kaixiang Peng

Summary: This study introduces an online convolutional adversarial autoencoder (AAE) model to learn representative industrial process information. By extracting features that reflect diverse information and follow a Gaussian distribution, the model improves the accuracy of fault detection and removes redundant information through a feature selection strategy.

Enhancing PEDOT modified electrode for tartrazine sensing through the immobilization of MIL-100(Fe) metal-organic framework

Shao-Yang Wu, Meng-Tsun Lai, Chung-Hui Hsu, Kevin C. W. Wu, Yesong Gu

Summary: This study investigated the effectiveness of using Fe-based MOF or MIL-100(Fe) in conjunction with a PEDOT-modified Pt electrode for detecting the synthetic azo dye tartrazine. By modifying the electrode with two different methods, favorable lower reductive potentials, competitive sensitivities, and good repeatability and stability were achieved in all MIL-100(Fe)/PEDOT/Pt electrodes.
