Role of Lactate Dehydrogenase in Identifying Relapse for Patients With Stage I Testicular Cancer on Surveillance

Adam Bobrowski, Lynn Anson-Cartwright, Kopika Kuhathaas, Di Maria Jiang, Peter Chung, Philippe Bedard, Padraig Warde, Martin O'Malley, Joan Sweet, Robert J. Hamilton

Summary: Lactate dehydrogenase does not independently contribute to early relapse detection in stage I seminoma or nonseminomatous germ cell tumor. Elevated lactate dehydrogenase values were documented in a high proportion of nonrelapsing seminoma and nonseminomatous germ cell tumor cases.

Long-term oncologic outcomes of low dose-rate brachytherapy compared to hypofractionated external beam radiotherapy for intermediate -risk prostate cancer

Summary: This study compared the long-term oncologic outcomes of intermediate risk prostate cancer patients treated with low dose-rate brachytherapy (LDR-BT) or moderate hypofractionated external beam radiotherapy (HF-EBRT). The results showed that LDR-BT was associated with lower rates of biochemical relapse and metastases compared to HF-EBRT, indicating better tumor control.

Prostate or bone? Comparing the efficacy of image guidance surrogates for pelvis and prostate radiotherapy using accumulated delivered dose

Vickie C. Kong, Tara Rosewall, Charles Catton, Peter Chung, Padraig Warde, Tim Craig, Andrew Bayley

Summary: The study assessed the impact of dosimetry to both the target and normal tissue when using bony anatomy (BA) or prostate (PRO) as surrogates for image guidance for pelvis and prostate radiotherapy. The results showed minimal deviation from the planned dose for pelvic lymph nodes and prostate when using either BA or PRO, but greater deviation for rectum when BA was used.
