Summary: Falls are a leading cause of death among elderly people, but research on the cost of fall-related injuries in Vietnam is limited. This study estimated the treatment costs and identified associated factors among 405 elderly patients in Thai Binh hospitals. The findings showed that elderly patients with fall-related injuries in Vietnam faced high costs and severe health issues. Strengthening primary healthcare services and communication campaigns are necessary to reduce disease burden and develop effective fall injury prevention strategies.

Summary: Obesity and asthma are common health issues with increased prevalence worldwide. Obesity exacerbates asthma symptoms and reduces therapeutic response. Recent studies have found that obesity-associated non-T2 factors, including mechanical stress, hyperinsulinemia, systemic inflammation, play a role in worsening asthma symptoms in obese asthmatic individuals. This review also discusses potential future therapies to reduce asthma symptoms in obese individuals by addressing these obesity-associated factors.

Summary: This study describes the characteristics, healthcare resource utilization, costs, and humanistic burden of women with Medicare insurance who experienced fragility fractures and were admitted to post-acute care. The results show that these women experienced increased healthcare costs and had limited improvement in pain and functional status after receiving post-acute care. The study also found that there is low utilization of dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and osteoporosis medications, and disparities in outcomes related to social risk factors.
