Summary: This study assessed the role of bone scan in the initial staging of muscle-invasive bladder carcinoma (MIBC) and found that bone scan has higher diagnostic performance than conventional imaging methods for detecting bone metastases. It also showed that bone scan changed the management plan in some patients.

Summary: This study investigates the accuracy of direct attenuation correction (AC) in image domain for myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging using deep convolutional neural networks. The results show that AC SPECT images generated using the deep learning networks exhibit good agreement with SPECT CT-AC images, outperforming the traditional methods.

Summary: In this study, manganese complexes immobilized into mesoporous amberlyst 15 nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized. The immobilized manganese porphyrins were used as catalysts for the oxidation reaction, and their catalytic activities were compared. Contrary to the general belief, the most electron-deficient metalloporphyrin showed the lowest catalytic activity.

Summary: We conducted a retrospective study to investigate the role of [F-18]FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in detecting arterial wall inflammation (AWI) in melanoma patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The study included 95 patients who had received ICIs and had at least three [F-18]FDG PET/CT scans. AWI was assessed using quantitative and qualitative methods. Our findings showed an increase in the number of patients with AWI suspicion in subsequent scans, with most of them experiencing treatment termination due to immune-related adverse events or disease progression. The study also demonstrated the potential of [F-18]FDG PET/CT in visualizing immunotherapy-induced subclinical inflammation in large vessels.

Summary: This study demonstrated the regeneration of oxidants in polyoxometalate-catalyzed oxidation reactions by photosensitized singlet oxygen oxidation of iodate to periodate. The contribution of photooxidation and oxidation pathways were determined by studying the oxidation reactions of sulfides. A porphyrin-POM nanocomposite was used as the catalyst.

Summary: Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used as a catalyst in the aerobic oxidation of bulk iodosylbenzene or hydrolysis/oxidation of iodobenzene diacetate, leading to the formation of nanostructured iodylbenzene. The formation of dendrimer iodylbenzene-polyvinylpyrrolidone nanocomposite (PhIO2-PVP) was confirmed through AFM and FESEM-EDX analyses. The presence of PVP enhanced the reactivity of PhIO2-PVP compared to bulk oxidant.

Summary: The BF3 complex of meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin immobilized into a new nano-structured mesoporous anion exchange polymer was used as a photosensitizer for aerobic oxidation of organic compounds. The nanocomposite was characterized and compared with another nanocomposite immobilizing the BF3 complex of meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin on nanostructured amberlyst 15. The study found that the nanoAmbN(Me)3@H2TPPS4(BF3)2 nanocomposite showed a larger red shift in the UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrum compared to the nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(BF3)2 nanocomposite.

Summary: In this study, a series of new photosensitizers were prepared by electrostatically supporting Meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-3-yl)porphyrin (H2TMPyP) on the sodium salt of amberlyst 15 nanoparticles (nanoAmbSO3Na) and protonating with weak and strong carboxylic acids. The protonated nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(HA)2 showed high photocatalytic activity and oxidative stability, regardless of the type and strength of the acid used for diprotonation. Among them, nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(CF3COOH)2 and nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(CH2ClCOOH)2 exhibited the highest catalytic efficiency in the oxidation of methyl phenyl sulfide.

Summary: TENIS syndrome is a subgroup of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients with rapid disease progression and reduced overall survival, usually without an effective treatment option. Surgery and metastatectomy are the best choices for recurrent disease in cases of solitary or oligometastasis. Detection of metastatic sites is crucial for these patients.

Summary: The present study aimed to assess pre-thyroidectomy thyroid hormone disturbances in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC). Through a retrospective study analyzing hospital files, it was found that baseline thyroid function status may not change the outcome of DTC, and thyroid dysfunction before surgery would not increase invasiveness nor impact the treatment response of the tumor.
