In this study, the catalytic activity of meso-tetra(n-propyl)porphyrinatomanganese(III) acetate, MnT(n-pr)(OAc) in oxidation of olefins and sulfides with tetra-n-butylammonium Oxone (TBAO), tetra-n-butylammonium periodate (TBAP), aqueous hydrogen peroxide, sodium periodate and Oxone in the presence of imidazole (ImH) has been studied. The comparison of catalytic performance of MnT(n-pr)P(OAc) and MnTPP(OAc) in oxidation of olefins with TBAP shows that while the latter is four times more efficient than the former, the extent of oxidative degradation of the former is ca. 3.5 times greater than the latter. The use of excess amount of styrene resulted in only a ca. 10 % increase in the catalyst stability, suggesting a mainly intramolecular mechanism for the catalyst degradation. On the other hand, in the case of TBAO, the oxidative degradation of the former is four times greater than the latter, but the catalytic performance of the latter for the oxidation of cyclohexene was only ca. 2 times larger than the former. This observation shows that the decreased catalytic performance of MnT(n-pr)P(OAc) relative to MnTPP(OAc) is essentially due to the high degree of degradation of the former. Due to the high degree of catalyst degradation, oxidation of olefins with periodate and Oxone in the presence of the two manganese porphyrins in aqueous solution (or with hydrogen peroxide in dichloromethane) gave little or no product. Oxidation of sulfides with TBAO and TBAP in the presence of MnT(n-pr)P(OAc) showed a conversion of ca. 15 % for the catalytic oxidation of sulfides to sulfones.

Summary: We conducted a retrospective study to investigate the role of [F-18]FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in detecting arterial wall inflammation (AWI) in melanoma patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The study included 95 patients who had received ICIs and had at least three [F-18]FDG PET/CT scans. AWI was assessed using quantitative and qualitative methods. Our findings showed an increase in the number of patients with AWI suspicion in subsequent scans, with most of them experiencing treatment termination due to immune-related adverse events or disease progression. The study also demonstrated the potential of [F-18]FDG PET/CT in visualizing immunotherapy-induced subclinical inflammation in large vessels.

Synthesis, characterization and application of a highly dispersed and reactive hypervalent iodine(V)/polyvinylpyrrolidone dendrimer nanocomposite: Hetero- vs. homo-intermolecular secondary O---I bonds

S. Mohaddeseh Hosseini, Vahideh Lamepour-giglou, Saeed Zakavi

Summary: Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used as a catalyst in the aerobic oxidation of bulk iodosylbenzene or hydrolysis/oxidation of iodobenzene diacetate, leading to the formation of nanostructured iodylbenzene. The formation of dendrimer iodylbenzene-polyvinylpyrrolidone nanocomposite (PhIO2-PVP) was confirmed through AFM and FESEM-EDX analyses. The presence of PVP enhanced the reactivity of PhIO2-PVP compared to bulk oxidant.

Summary: The BF3 complex of meso-tetra(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin immobilized into a new nano-structured mesoporous anion exchange polymer was used as a photosensitizer for aerobic oxidation of organic compounds. The nanocomposite was characterized and compared with another nanocomposite immobilizing the BF3 complex of meso-tetrakis(N-methylpyridinium-4-yl)porphyrin on nanostructured amberlyst 15. The study found that the nanoAmbN(Me)3@H2TPPS4(BF3)2 nanocomposite showed a larger red shift in the UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrum compared to the nanoAmbSO3@H2TMPyP(BF3)2 nanocomposite.
