Summary: Various treatments are available for telangiectasias and reticular veins in the lower limbs, including sclerotherapy, laser therapy, intense pulsed light, thermocoagulation, and microphlebectomy. Studies suggest that sclerotherapy may be more effective than placebo for improving telangiectasias, but it may also cause more adverse events. Further research is needed to establish the most effective treatment option.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of vascular lasers and vascular intense pulsed light in the treatment of facial telangiectasias. The results showed that this treatment protocol had a positive aesthetic outcome and no severe side effects. Both patients and dermatologists reported high satisfaction. Further large-scale studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: This study investigated the efficacy and safety of intense pulse light (IPL) therapy and meibomian gland expression (MGX) in cases of recurrent chalaziosis after excision surgery. The results showed that IPL-MGX treatment significantly reduced the recurrence rate and improved meibomian gland function. Therefore, IPL-MGX can be considered as a first-line treatment for recurrent or refractory chalaziosis cases post excision.

Summary: By utilizing ionic liquid as the gain medium solvent, a droplet-based dye laser system was demonstrated in a co-flowing microfluidic device with a low lasing threshold. The unique properties of ionic liquids offer great potentials for on-chip light sources, tunable optofluidic devices, and sensitive biochemical analysis.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of sclerotherapy for lower limb telangiectasias through a quantitative method, replacing the subjective scoring method. The results indicate that the quantitative evaluation method is more reliable and can be applied by professionals of any experience level.

Summary: In the presence of Rashba-Dresselhaus coupling, strong spin-orbit interactions in liquid-crystal optical cavities result in a distinctive spin-split entangled dispersion. Spin coherence between such modes gives rise to an optically persistent spin helix. In this paper, we introduce optical gain in such a system, by dispersing a molecular dye in a liquid-crystal microcavity, and demonstrate an optically persistent spin-helix lasing in the Rashba-Dresselhaus regime.

Summary: By utilizing two-dimensional photonic crystals and a one-dimensional PhC nano-beam cavity, researchers developed all-polymeric dye-lasers on a suspended poly-methylmethacrylate film and evaluated their potential as attachable strain sensors. They experimentally confirmed the stable lasing performances of the dye-laser on a rough surface, and theoretically studied the wavelength responses of the PhC resonators to stretching strain, further improving them through strain shaping concept. The thin film PhC dye-lasers demonstrated high attachability and strain sensing response, showing promise as attachable strain sensors.

Summary: This study found that dermoscopy can aid in early identification of features of topical steroid-dependent or damaged face (TSDF) and provide better prognosis. Dermoscopic findings such as red diffuse areas, vessels, and brown globules were correlated with the duration of topical corticosteroid (TCS) use.

Summary: The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of IPL treatment using a dual-band filter in facial acne vulgaris treatment. The results showed a significant decrease in papules, pustules, and comedones, as well as the melanin index after treatment. However, sebum production and the erythema index did not show statistically significant differences.

Summary: This study investigated the bactericidal capacity of intense pulsed light (IPL) on Salmonella as well as the sublethal injuries caused by IPL treatment. The results showed that IPL treatment caused various intracellular oxidative damages in Salmonella, but these damages could be repaired in nutrient-rich environments. The study also identified two key repair mechanisms in Salmonella under IPL stimulus: repairing membrane proteins and addressing DNA damage.

Summary: Random lasers are light sources without mirrors, which derive feedback from multiple scattering and have poor spatial coherence and directionality. By adding nanoclay to a laser dye solution with suspended scatterers, a disordered active medium can be created for colloidal random lasers. The dependence of gain medium and scatterer concentration on the linewidth of colloidal random lasers was investigated under single-shot nanosecond pumping.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of IPL combined with Erbium fractional laser for the treatment of striae gravidarum. The results showed that this combination treatment can reduce the area and atrophy of stretch marks, lighten their color, and increase skin elasticity and thickness. The treatment is safe and has remarkable clinical results.
