Summary: This study investigated the composition of oxyfluoro-aluminates in molten NaF-AlF3-Al2O3 salts through thermodynamic calculations, quantum chemical calculations, and Raman spectroscopic analysis. A method was proposed to predict the characteristic bands of Raman spectra of molten salts, which was validated by fitting results of experimental Raman spectra. The research provides insights into the properties and transformation of ionic solutes in the electrolysis process of aluminum.

Summary: In this study, the electrochemical behavior of NaVO3 on solid molybdenum and liquid aluminum electrodes was investigated, and the formation mechanism of Al-V intermetallic compounds was analyzed. The results showed that the reduction process was multi-step on the molybdenum electrode and one-step on the aluminum electrode. Al-V intermetallic compounds were obtained on the aluminum electrode by potentiostatic electrolysis.

Summary: The dissolution performance and behavior of black aluminum dross (BAD) in cryolite electrolyte were studied, and the saturation solubility of aluminum nitride in this system was determined. The effects of temperature, cryolite ratio, and the doping ratio of BAD and alumina on the dissolution rate were also investigated. The results showed that aluminum nitride was the main factor affecting the dissolution performance of BAD in the electrolyte.

Summary: A coupling model of flow field and electric field was established using the COMSOL system to study the migration behavior of Y(III) ions in the AlF3-(Li,Na)F system. The migration number of Y(III) ions was found to vary linearly with temperature and molar ratio changes, with a relatively constant value within a certain molar ratio range.

Summary: The electrodeposition of molybdenum coatings in Na3AlF6-NaF-Al2O3-MoO3 molten salts at 930 degrees C was studied to investigate the possibility of producing thick molybdenum coatings. The effects of current density and electrodeposition time on the morphology of the coatings were analyzed. It was found that increasing the current density and electrodeposition time led to thicker coatings with high current efficiency. The electrodeposition process resulted in relatively flat, dense, and coherent molybdenum coatings on a nickel substrate.

Summary: The electrochemical behavior of Zr(IV) on a molybdenum electrode in a KF-AlF3-Al2O3-ZrO2 molten salt system was investigated through cyclic voltammetry, square-wave voltammetry, and chronopotentiometry. The reduction process of Zr(IV) followed a two-step, two-electron transfer mechanism. The electrodeposition of Al-Zr alloys was successfully achieved on both the Mo and liquid aluminum electrodes.

Summary: High-conductivity solid electrolytes like NaSICON are becoming increasingly important for safe, reliable battery-based energy storage. However, the demands for high current density, low temperature operation, and long-duration storage challenge the limitations of solid electrolytes. This study investigates the penetration of molten sodium into NaSICON at high current densities.

Summary: This study presents the results of first-principles molecular dynamics calculations on the NaF-AlF3 molten salt system with a low molecular ratio (1.3). The local ion structures of this system are mainly composed of four-coordination [AlF4](-), five-coordination [AlF5](2-) and a few six-coordination [AlF6](3-) structures. The interactions between Al and F ions are strong, resulting in a complex molten salt structure. The viscosity of the molten salt is 1.479 mPa s, and the ionic conductivity is 1.306 S/cm. These findings provide valuable data for the application of the NaF-AlF3 low-temperature aluminum electrolyte system.

Summary: The study investigated the electrochemical decomposition of spent catalyst in molten salts for the extraction of precious metals, focusing on aluminum electrowinning from xLiF-(1-x)AlF3 melts. The results revealed a diffusion-controlled two-step process with both one-electron and two-electron reductions occurring simultaneously at close potentials. Further research is needed to optimize the process parameters for aluminum reduction during catalyst treatment and primary metal production.
