Summary: This case report presents a 72-year-old female patient who had undergone renal transplant 11 years ago and developed progressively worsening headaches and confusion. Imaging revealed brain edema in the frontal and temporal lobes. Surgical biopsy confirmed a diagnosis of Polymorphic PTLD. Early diagnosis is crucial for patient survival with PTLD.

Summary: This study evaluated the 10-year prevalence of New-Onset Diabetes After Transplantation (NODAT) in renal transplant patients and found that NODAT is more common in subjects with older age, higher BMI, post-transplant CMV infection, and higher pre-transplant FBS levels.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical impact of different urinary tract infection (UTI) phenotypes occurring within the first year after renal transplantation. The results showed that colonization and occasional UTI had no impact on pertinent outcomes, but recurrent UTI were associated with lower one-year estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and lower long-term death-censored allograft survival. Better strategies to prevent and treat recurrent UTI are needed.

Summary: Early post-renal transplant hyperglycemia (EPTH) is associated with significant complications and needs to be recognized and managed proactively. It increases the risk of acute graft failure, rehospitalizations, cardiovascular events, post-renal transplant diabetes, and infections.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed 21 kidney transplant recipients who underwent endovascular treatment for TRAS, showing a high technical success rate, low complication rate, and improvement in renal function and blood pressure control. The results suggest that endovascular procedures for TRAS can reduce the need for antihypertensive medications and have a positive impact on renal function and blood pressure management.

Summary: The aim of this study was to assess the differences in concentration of IL-31 among itchy renal transplant recipients (RTR). The results demonstrate a significantly increased IL-31 serum concentration in itchy RTR compared to non-itchy RTR and the healthy control group.

Summary: The study found that implementing a tacrolimus capping strategy in CYP3A5*1/- recipients is associated with improved glomerular filtration rate without a significant increase in biopsy-proven acute rejection incidence.

Summary: The SALT-M score can predict one-year post-LT mortality in patients with severe ACLF. The ACLF-LT-LoS score can predict the median length of stay after LT. The use of these scores could assist in determining the benefits of transplantation.

Summary: This study investigated the 3-year post-transplant outcomes of desensitized mechanical circulatory support (MCS) patients. The results showed that desensitization therapy significantly reduced panel reactive antibody (PRA) levels and the clinical outcomes of desensitized MCS patients were comparable to non-desensitized control patients, demonstrating the safety and efficacy of desensitization therapy.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the frequency and factors associated with the incidence of persistent post-transplant hyperparathyroidism (PTHP) following renal transplantation (RT). The results showed that higher pre-RT calcium and PTH levels, as well as pre-RT calcimimetic therapy, were risk factors for PTHP. Further research is needed to determine the optimal PTH cutoff for transplant candidacy and the recommendation for parathyroidectomy in SHP patients requiring calcimimetic therapy.

Summary: Cardiovascular disease remains a major cause of death and hospitalization in kidney transplant recipients. Identifying and treating cardiovascular risk factors, as well as exploring emerging therapies like sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors, are crucial in post-transplant care. Future research areas include setting goals for risk factor management, utilizing biomarkers, and improving screening and intervention strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) and hepatoblastoma (HB). The findings showed that higher levels of SUA were associated with advanced tumor staging and unfavorable tumor characteristics in patients with HB. After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, SUA levels significantly decreased in response to tumor downstaging. This study is important as it links SUA with tumor staging and risk prediction for HB.
