Summary: Electron-donating groups enhance nucleophilicity of neighboring double bonds or cross-conjugated π-systems. However, we found that in the case of imidazolin-2-ones, the nucleophilicity of the double bond decreases upon introduction of an electron-donating group. This unexpected effect is due to the stronger interaction of the substituent with a carbonyl group.

Summary: This study reports two TSCT-TADF emitters and successfully enhances their luminescent properties by controlling the molecular configuration without directly modifying the donor or acceptor. The emitter with the fluorine moiety exhibits more evident electrostatic repulsive force onto the central structure, resulting in higher external quantum efficiency.

Summary: The preferences for H-2 oxidation or H-2 production reactions vary among different groups of [FeFe]-hydrogenases. The pKa of the proton-transfer residue plays a significant role in controlling reactivity, with a change from cysteine to serine favoring H-2 oxidation and a change to aspartate causing a shift towards H-2 evolution. The effect of changing the proton-transfer residue pKa can be explained in terms of the scaling relationship between the H-cluster ligand pKa and E-m values.

Summary: A new sensing mechanism based on an indium-dihydroxyterephthalic acid metal-organic framework (MOF) was reported, utilizing spatially fitted analyte-MOF hydrogen-bond formation for selective recognition and analyte-H-bond assisted excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) for signal transduction. The resulting ratiometric emission provided ultrafast response, enabling the SNNU-153 sensor to selectively sense hydrazine among nitrogen-containing hydride analogs. This molecular recognition concept led to the development of a powerful N2H4 sensor with potential applications in various sensing elements.

Summary: The study found that PINO can be generated from NHPI through multiple-site concerted proton-electron transfer, while its decomposition occurs through at least two paths, one of which is greatly enhanced by base. Optimal catalytic efficiency in PINO-catalyzed oxidations occurs in the presence of bases with appropriate pK(a) values.

Summary: Molecular structure conversion and mass transfer processes at the electrode-electrolyte interfaces are crucial in energy electrochemistry. Mass spectrometry, particularly in situ time-of-flight secondary ion electrochemical mass spectrometry, has emerged as a promising technique to investigate electrochemical processes at the electrode surface. This review highlights recent advancements in coupling time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry and electrochemistry to study dynamic electrochemical processes, solvated species distribution, and hidden reaction pathways at the molecular level. Furthermore, the key challenges in this field are discussed to promote new applications and discoveries in operando studying the dynamic electrochemical interfaces of advanced energy systems.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of water, confinement, and confined water on the proton transfer of 3,5-bis(2-hydroxyphenyl)1H-1,2,4-triazole (bis-HPTA). It finds that water and confinement can alter the proton transfer process, while in reverse micelle, the molecule interacts with bound water and leads to single tautomer emission.

Summary: The confinement of substrates inside self-assembled capsules allows for effective catalysis of organic reactions similar to enzymes in biological systems. Chemical reactions in confined spaces exhibit unique processes due to steric constraints, solvent exclusion, intermediates stabilization, and conformational control of substrates, often breaking the fundamental rules of organic reactivity. This review focuses on the hexameric capsule CR, a supramolecular assembly of six resorcinarene 1 macrocycles and eight water molecules, which has shown effective catalysis of various chemical reactions by controlling reactivity and selectivity in its confined space.

Summary: This study quantitatively analyzed the heat transfer modes of thermal runaway in lithium-ion battery packs in confined and semi-confined spaces using materials with different thermal properties, revealing that the use of specific materials can significantly slow down the thermal runaway process. Heat transfer primarily occurs through conduction via the air, transitioning to radiation heat transfer when thermal runaway occurs.

Summary: The F-19 solvatomagnetic comparison method provides a more reliable scale for solvent hydrogen-bond acceptance than the solvatochromic comparison method. The order of beta(1) values for various ions in [C(4)mim] based ionic liquids is significantly correlated to the intrinsic hydrogen-bonding properties of the anions. In the case of solvents of green interest, the beta(1) values obtained from the F-19 solvatomagnetic comparison method are found to be more chemically relevant than those from the solvatochromic method.

Summary: In this study, a method for synthesizing dipyrrin-supported copper nitrenoid adducts was reported, and their spectroscopic features and nitrene transfer chemistry were investigated through detailed mechanistic analyses. The results showed that this method can facilitate C-H bond amination and aziridination, which will contribute to the development of future Cu-mediated C-N bond forming catalysis.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of protons in hybrid perovskites induced by Lewis base and their impact on the lattice structure and charge transfer kinetics in perovskite solar cells. It is found that the basicity of the Lewis base affects the stability of the organic species on the perovskite surface and the interfacial charge transport. By regulating the proton behavior, the power conversion efficiency is significantly improved, and the operational stability is enhanced.

Summary: This paper presents an experimental study on the convective heat transfer characteristics of a circumferentially arranged oblique jet array impinging on the rotating cylindrical surface in the confined space. Local and circumferential average heat transfer characteristics, overall heat transfer uniformity, and heat transfer capacity are analyzed comprehensively. The effects of rotational Reynolds number, jet Reynolds number, and jet angle on the heat transfer behaviors are investigated.
