Summary: The study revealed that Cl- ions can cause pitting corrosion in aluminum alloy 6063, and the combination of Cl- with Cu2+ or Fe3+ ions can exacerbate this corrosion. Fe3+ accelerates uniform corrosion, while Cu2+ mainly promotes pitting corrosion.

Summary: The effect of thermal ageing at 150 oC on the corrosion behaviour of Scalmalloy (R) alloy additively manufactured by laser powder bed fusion is investigated. The results show that cyclic polarisation curves, electrochemical impedance measurements, and mechanical tests exhibit similar results before and after the thermal treatment. However, electron microscopy characterisation reveals that the application of this temperature for sufficient time causes sensitization of the alloy to intergranular corrosion processes.

Summary: Three non-ionic surfactants were synthesized through a simple direct reaction, and their surface and thermodynamic behaviors at different temperatures were determined. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) was found to depend on both hydrophobic chain length and solution temperature, with the synthesized surfactants favoring adsorption at interfaces. The synthesized surfactants were also found to act as good anodic inhibitors on carbon steel in acidic solutions, with adsorption following the Langmuir isotherm.

Summary: Deep cryogenic treatment (DCT) has been proven to effectively enhance the corrosion resistance of steels by reducing the formation of corrosion products, retarding their development and propagation, and decreasing surface cracking. The influence of DCT on each steel is dependent on the altered microstructure and alloying element concentration, making it an effective method for altering the corrosion resistance of steels.

Summary: The parsley extract (PLE) was used as a corrosion inhibitor in combination with iodide, exhibiting an optimal corrosion inhibition efficiency of 99%. The combined inhibitor showed a favorable long-term corrosion inhibition effect, with over 90% inhibition efficiency maintained after 144 hours. The introduction of iodide led to a higher negative charge amount on the carbon steel surface, facilitating the interaction between the corrosion inhibitor and Fe atoms.

Summary: This study reports on berberine isolated from Mahonia nepalensis as a highly efficient and thermally stable corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in acid pickling condition. Berberine showed fast adsorption and achieved high inhibition efficiency in a short time, with even higher efficiency at higher concentrations and temperatures. The results support both physical and chemical interactions of berberine with the steel surface, showing endothermic and spontaneous adsorption process.
