Summary: The traditional stereo vision system is not suitable for multi-layer imaging conditions due to significant errors caused by refraction effects. This study builds a three-layer stereo vision model and demonstrates the impact of various factors on measurement errors through simulations and experiments. The optimization of system parameters is recommended to reduce errors and a practical guide for designing more effective parameters is provided.

Summary: A stereo matching method based on adaptive morphological correlation is proposed. The method determines the point correspondences of an input pair of stereo images by matching locally adaptive image windows using an optimal morphological correlation. The proposed method accurately determines the point correspondences in homogeneous image regions and at the edges of scene objects. It is also capable of recovering unknown correspondences of occluded and not matched points in the scene using a simple post-processing.

Summary: This paper presents a non-contact optical sensing technique using a stereo camera to image hidden damage in structural health monitoring. The technique captures dynamic operational deflection shapes (ODSs) using digital image correlation (DIC) and overcomes the challenges of using high vibration modes for imaging the damage area. A wavelet analysis method is proposed for baseline-free global damage quantification. The feasibility study successfully visualizes hidden damage regions using a stereo camera and wavelet transform mode shape curvature (WT-MSC) technique.

Summary: Evidence is presented for the intermediate and holistic visual representations of objects and non-objects, which are computed online and independent of visual attention. The overall shape similarity between stimuli facilitates object decision latencies, regardless of the validity of the prime location, suggesting a key intermediate stage of object recognition. These effects are based on the overall outlines of the stimuli and low spatial frequency components, rather than local parts.
