Using balanced incomplete block designs with two plots per block, new three-level second order designs involving an arbitrary number of factors are obtained. These designs can easily be blocked orthogonally into blocks of reasonable sizes and are seen to have high D-efficiencies. Orthogonally blocked augmented pairs designs with at most six factors are also constructed. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
