Summary: The study found that solitary sexual desire plays an important role in explaining the subjective orgasm experience and sexual arousal during solitary masturbation. Additionally, in women, sexual arousal tendency is also explained by solitary sexual desire. These results highlight the importance of addressing solitary sexual desire in the context of masturbation and its implications for other dimensions of sexual functioning.

Summary: The study involved 31 premenopausal heterosexual women with HSDD in a double-blinded crossover trial, and found that MC4R agonism significantly increased sexual desire and enhanced sexual brain processing, including reducing self-consciousness and increasing sensitivity to erotic stimuli.

Summary: This study examined the effects of Cabergoline (CAB) and its derivative Dimethylcabergoline (DMC) on the sexual behaviors of male rats. Both CAB and DMC were found to facilitate ejaculations, with CAB also promoting anticipatory sexual motivation and intromissions.

Summary: This study validated the Dutch translation of the SAGASF-M questionnaire and investigated the perceptions of healthy men regarding their genital anatomy and sensory function. The study found that there were significant differences in genital sensation among different regions of the male genitalia, with the bottom of the glans or frenular area rated the highest contributor to sexual pleasure. The study also found that self-stimulation resulted in lower sexual pleasure compared to stimulation by a sexual partner.

Summary: Sexual dysfunction is common in women with spinal cord injury (SCI) and current treatments are ineffective, particularly for those with severe SCI. This case series investigated the effect of epidural spinal cord stimulation (ESCS) on sexual function and distress in three women with chronic, thoracic, sensorimotor complete SCI. After 13 months of daily tonic ESCS, there was significant improvement in sexual function and reduction in sexual distress, without aggravating dyspareunia. However, further large-scale investigations are needed to understand the long-term safety and feasibility of ESCS as a viable therapy for sexual dysfunction.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of the orgasm gap between men and women on sexual outcomes for mixed-sex couples. The findings show that men significantly underestimate the size of the orgasm gap in their relationships, and there is a positive relationship between orgasm frequency and desire and expectation for orgasm. Women's orgasm frequency also predicts men's orgasm expectation.

Summary: Most surgical procedures for benign prostatic obstruction do not seem to affect erectile function, but retrograde ejaculation is a common adverse event. Minimally invasive surgery may be associated with a lower risk.

Summary: This study investigated the role of oxytocin in human sexual behavior, finding that most studies showed higher levels of oxytocin during orgasm or ejaculation. The authors hypothesize a complex role of oxytocin in sexual desire modulation, particularly in sexual fantasies and thoughts that trigger sexual arousal.

Summary: Recent research indicates that sexual mindfulness, awareness and non-judgment are important factors in maintaining relational and sexual well-being in marriage. Both wives' and husbands' awareness positively contribute to relational flourishing, sexual harmony, and orgasm consistency, while non-judgment did not show partner effects on orgasm consistency. Therapists, educators, and couples can benefit from considering the use of sexual mindfulness skills in addressing marriage and sexual relationships.

Summary: Despite the fact that men showed stronger enjoyment of and interest toward sexual stimuli than women, the brain activity differences between sexes in response to sexual stimuli are still unknown. Two experiments were conducted to investigate whether visual sexual stimuli elicit different brain activity patterns in men and women. The results revealed that men exhibited stronger activation in the visual and prefrontal cortices and dorsal attention network compared to women. The findings also showed that the sex of the subject could be accurately predicted based on the brain activity generated by sexual stimuli.

Summary: Sexual incentive stimuli activate sexual motivation and heighten general arousal, leading individuals to approach and engage in sexual acts. These interactions further enhance arousal, culminating in orgasm. Research suggests that the basic mechanisms of sexual motivation and arousal are similar in rodents and humans.
