Summary: This study aimed to explore the psychometric properties and factor structure of the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) in sexually active women previously treated for breast cancer. The results showed good reliability and validity for the FSFI, but suggested that the current conceptualizations might not accurately represent sexual functioning in this population. The study identified a new arousal/orgasm factor and failed to capture a desire factor.

Summary: The study revealed that Japanese girls have poor knowledge about cervical cancer screening, HPV, and HPV vaccines, with the unvaccinated group having particularly low awareness and engaging in higher sexual activity. Only a very small percentage of girls experienced changes in awareness about sexual activity after vaccination. This highlights the importance of providing information about vaccine effectiveness and the benefits of cancer screening, especially for unvaccinated girls.

Summary: The study explores the underrepresentation of individuals who experience female-perpetrated sexual assault (FPSA) in the sexual victimization literature. It reveals that most survivors of FPSA have experienced childhood and adulthood victimization, with perpetrators often being known individuals. The study also highlights the low rates of labeling FPSA as sexual assault and disclosure. Depressive and posttraumatic symptoms are common among survivors.

Summary: The prevalence of ASD in female victims of recent sexual assault was found to be high, affecting approximately two thirds of them. Risk factors associated with the development of ASD include nationality, psychiatric history, peritraumatic dissociation, and type of assault. Recognition of these risk factors may aid in the prompt detection of vulnerable women requiring early and specific interventions shortly after trauma.

Female sexual behavior has decreased in terms of frequency, foreplay duration, and coital duration during the pandemic. Factors associated with the development of sexual dysfunction include age greater than 45 years, body mass index greater than 25, jobs as healthcare providers, previous COVID-19 infection within the previous three months, and screened-positive anxiety.

Summary: Female sexual function remains an under-investigated topic in medical research, with a strong association between female sexual dysfunction (FSD) and decreased physical, emotional and overall life satisfaction. Pregnancy appears to have a negative impact on sexual function for primiparous women, with a significant decrease in FSFI scores across trimesters. It is important for doctors to discuss the changes in sexual function with their patients.
